Determining that building a new rural area is to increase people’s incomes and ensure a stable life, Tuy Lai commune’s party committees and authorities have focused on leading economic development, actively propagating and mobilizing people to change their crops and livestock and actively apply scientific and technological advances to production for increasing income. Besides agricultural production, people here also develop trades such as embroidery, rattan, construction… At the end of 2020, the per capita income in Tuy Lai reached VND 50.1 million/person/year; the rate of poor households decreased to 0.17%.

Building a new rural area has changed Tuy Lai’s look with spacious, wide, clean and beautiful concreted village roads and obvious changes in environmental protection. The weekly general cleaning has been in order; as a result, houses, streets and alleys are all clean and beautiful. The rural landscape is also “dressed up” by the people by planting and taking care of 6.5km of flower roads and arranging 250m of murals.

Along with economic development, much attention is paid to the building of cultural life in Tuy Lai is. Since 2018, the villages of the commune have built their convention with the content closely following the regulations on cultural lifestyle in weddings, funerals and festivals. The villages all incorporate the implementation of a civilized lifestyle in weddings into the local conventions of cultural life, considering it as one of the criteria for evaluating, commenting, and classifying Cultural Villages and Cultural Families. The people of Tuy Lai actively responded to the regulations on civilized mourning. All villages have established funeral committees to help and encourage funeral owners to organize and administer funerals according to regulations. Families do not maintain the corpses for more than 36 hours and play music beyond the prescribed time. The evil customs such as rolling on the road, bridging, spreading votive papers along roads … have been abolished. The worshiping with cooked offerings (sticky rice, meat, chicken…) is no longer present. Especially, in any mourning, the owners do not invite tobacco or large offerings… Most people in Tuy Lai perform cremation for the deceased.

The mental life of the people is constantly being improved. The commune has 20 ranked historical sites. The festivals and the traditional culture are maintained and promoted and meet the religious needs of the people. The movement of exercise and sports in Tuy Lai is very exciting and rich. The whole commune currently has 57 sports clubs for air volleyball, leather volleyball, badminton… The clubs maintain regular activities, attracting a large number of people, thereby, having the practical effect of increasing neighborly affection, health care and improving the mental life of the people. In 2020, 14 out of 14 villages (villages) of the commune have been recognized with the title of “Cultural Village”.

Tuy Lai has “changed” thanks to the solidarity, joint effort and consensus of officials and people from all walks of life to improve material and mental life, contributing to the building of the homeland and the capital to become increasingly rich, beautiful, civilized and modern.
