After more than a hectic week of with 13 theatrical works, on the evening of October 2, 2022, the 5th Capital Theater Festival 2022 co-ordinated by the Vietnam Association of Theater Artists and the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports was closed at Dai Nam Theater, Hanoi.

At the closing of the festival, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Theater Artists Trinh Thuy Mui, Head of the Festival’s Steering Committee, assessed that the 5th Capital Theater Festival – 2022 was a great success. Capital audience enjoyed 13 theatrical works of various art forms: cheo, cai luong, plays, vaudeville circus with contents and stories on topics of history, folk, revolution, war and modern topics. This is also a festival that attracts the public when the auditoriums of Dai Nam and Cong Nhan theaters are full of spectators every night … That is the spiritual motivation for theatrical artists to love and be more passionate about their profession.  

Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Theater Artists Trinh Thuy Mui also highly appreciated the artistic discoveries and creations of the authors, directors, creators… attending this festival. The serious participation of art troupes, the enthusiastic response of the audience contributed to spreading the vibrant stage atmosphere of the festival, practically celebrating the 68th anniversary of the liberation of the capital (October 10, 1954 – October 10, 2022).

At the Closing Ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded Gold Medals for 3 excellent works: Play “Red Rain” by the Military Drama Theater; play “Kingship” – The case of Tong Thi Quyen of Thang Long Arts Performing Division – Hanoi Theater Association; play “Trung trinh liet nu” (Loyal heroine) by Hanoi Cheo Theater.

Four works awarded Silver Medals includes: “The night before the golden day” by Song Viet Performance Organizing Company Limited; “Heavenly Chrysanthemum” of the Military University of Culture and Arts; “Thuy Kieu – A tragic life” by the Hanoi Drama Theater; “Immortality with Thang Long” by Vietnam Cai Luong Theater.

 

The Organizing Committee awarded Gold Medals to excellent individuals.

The Organizing Committee also presented 4 awards to excellent individuals of the Festival. These are: Writer Chu Lai – Best Author Award (play “Red Rain” – Military Drama Theater); People’s Artist Le Hung – Award for Best Director (play “Red Rain” – Military Drama Theater); painter Dang Minh Tuan – Excellent Painter Award (play “Red Rain” – Military Drama Theater); Artist Hoai Anh won the award for Best Choreographer (The play Trung trinh liet nu – Hanoi Cheo Theater).

The Organizing Committee also awarded 4 Outstanding Musicians prizes to artists: Vo Thanh Liem with the play “Kingship” – The case of Tong Thi Quyen (Thang Long Arts Performing Division – Hanoi Theater Association; Bui Tat Trong with the play “ Trung trinh liet nu” (Hanoi Cheo Theater); Pham Hong Tiep with the play “Immortality with Thang Long” (Vietnam Cai Luong Theater); Meritorious Artist Pham Huu Vuong with the play “Lo Giang Waves” Military Cheo Theater).

In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded 26 Gold Medals, 33 Silver Medals to individual outstanding actors; Presenting a certificate of merit for the youngest actor to Tran Bao Khanh – the actor in the play “Hanoi – City of dreams” – Hanoi Circus and Vaudeville Art Theater.

For Hanoi Cheo Theatre, this is a successful festival. In addition to the Gold Medal for the play “ Trung trinh liet nu” (Author: Tran Hong Van; Cheo adaptation by: Mai Van Sinh; Director: People’s Artist Hoang Quynh Mai), the award for excellent choreographer, excellent musician for the play, the actors of the Theater also won 3 individual Gold Medals and 2 Silver Medals. The artists who won Gold Medals are: Quoc Phong (as Tran Thong), artist Thanh Huyen (as Princess An Tu) and Meritorious Artist Hong Nam (as King Tran Nhan Tong) won the Gold Medal. The two artists who won Silver Medals are: Artist Hong Thang (as Thot Hoan), and artist Xuan Huynh (as Tran Kien).

In accordance with Hanoi Cheo Theater’s plan, the “golden” play “Trung trinh liet nu” will be performed for the audience of the capital at Dai Nam Theater, 89 Hue Street, Hanoi on the evening of October 8, 2022.
