In the morning of December 13, the Center for Population and Family Planning in cooperation with the Elderly Association of Chuong My District organized an information dissemination conference on health care for the elderly and the role of the elderly in the tasks of population and family planning for nearly 140 members of the Elderly Association of Ngoc Hoa Commune.
At the conference, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Viet, Deputy Director of the Center for Population and Family Planning of Chuong My, updated the elderly people on the basic contents of the new policies of the Party and the State concerning the elderly, information on some common diseases in the elderly and ways to prevent them, and activities in the community elderly care programs implemented by the Center for Population and Family Planning in the past years. The agenda also included free medical examination and medicine dispensing for elderly people living in particularly difficult conditions and elderly people living in poor households in the communes and towns.

In addition to information on elderly health care, the elderly people were also updated on new policies of the Party and State on the tasks of population and family planning, especially information regarding the current situation of aging population and associated opportunities and challenges. The elderly people were asked to promote of their role and reliance in encouraging their family members to fully implement population and family planning policies and to change the perception of gender prejudice in order to reduce gender imbalance at birth and practice gender equality.
