The International Grandmaster and Master Chess Tournament – Hanoi in 2022 is organized by the Vietnam Chess Federation in collaboration with the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, from May 24 to 29, in order to help players, especially Vietnamese players, to accumulate ELO coefficients as well as achieve more credit to meet the international..

The International Grandmaster and Master Chess Tournament – Hanoi in 2022 is organized by the Vietnam Chess Federation in collaboration with the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, from May 24 to 29, in order to help players, especially Vietnamese players, to accumulate ELO coefficients as well as achieve more credit to meet the international Grandmaster standards and international Master standards.

The Organizer awarded certifications to players of the tournament

There were 20 players competing at the tournament, including 10 Vietnamese players and 10 international players from India, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, Ukraine. Among international players, there are 6 players who have just attended the 31st SEA Games. Among the 10 host players, Tran Tuan Minh (Hanoi) also had a success at 31st SEA Games with the achievement of 1 gold medal in the men’s fast chess team.

Overall, after nearly a week of competition, player Tin Jingyao – who won the bronze medal in standard chess at SEA Games 31, was crowned champion with 7 points after 9 games. With this achievement, Tin Jingyao achieved one more international Grandmaster standard to be eligible to be awarded the title of International Grandmaster by the World Chess Federation in August.

Second place in the international grandmasters group is chess player Tran Tuan Minh (Hanoi). At this tournament, Tran Tuan Minh, after a bad start, rose to get 5.5 points. Third in the group was Indonesian player Setyaki Azarya Jodi (5 points).

In the International Masters Group of the tournament, the championship belonged to the Philippine player Concio Michael (7 points), second is Arfan Aditya Bagus (Indonesia) with 6.5 points. Player Vo Thanh Ninh ranked third with 5.5 points due to the better performance the fourth ranked player Bui Vinh (with 5.5 points).

The International Grandmaster and Master Chess Tournament – Hanoi 2022 was held with the lowest possible cost. Accordingly, the tournament organizers immediately invited international players from Singapore, the Philippines, and Indonesia who had just attended the 31st SEA Games. This had helped the organizers save the cost of athletes’ international travel, but still ensure the professional factor of the tournament.
