In an effort to contribute to the preservation and nurturing of the traditional art form of Ca Tru singing, on September 14, the Center for Cultural, Information, and Sports of Dan Phuong district, in collaboration with the City Cultural Center, conducted a Ca Tru singing art training class. The objective is to play a role in preserving and maintaining this traditional art form.

Addressing the opening of the art training course, Ms. Ly Thi Thuy Hanh, Director of the City Cultural Center, highlighted that Ca Tru is a precious art form passed down through generations, reaching the pinnacle of artistic and literary achievement. However, over time, this art form has faced neglect and even obscurity. Therefore, the long-term and urgent task is to protect and promote the art of Ca Tru to prevent its decline.

According to Ms. Bui Thi Quyen, Director of the Center for Cultural, Information, and Sports of Dan Phuong district, Ca Tru in Thuong Mo is one of the three folk cultural addresses in Dan Phuong district. Ca Tru has been present in Thuong Mo since the 17th century. Despite historical fluctuations, the art of Ca Tru, once forgotten, is experiencing a revival every day with the efforts of many artisans, the local community in Thuong Mo, and the support of the local government.

At the training course, People’s Artisan Nguyen Thi Minh Tam (from Thuong Mo Commune) imparted essential singing skills of Ca Tru to the members of the Ca Tru club in Thuong Mo and enthusiasts from various villages and towns within the district. The skills covered basic aspects of Ca Tru singing, including recitation singing, lyrical singing, finger exercises, playing the drum, singing and playing, etc., in harmony, and mastering the overall coordination of singing, playing instruments, and drumming.
