The delegation of RMIT University was led by Professor Tim Marshall, Vice President of RMIT University, Rector of the College of Design and Sociology, RMIT University in Melbourne. Accompanied by Professor Ralph Horne, Vice-Chancellor of the College of Design and Sociology, in charge of Research and Innovation, RMIT University in Melbourne, Professor Naomi Stead, Director of Design and Innovation, RMIT University Melbourne; Professor Julia Gaimster, Dean of Communication and Design at RMIT University in Vietnam; Ms. Duong Hong Loan – Director of Strategy and External Relations, RMIT University in Vietnam.

Over the past time, RMIT University in Vietnam has closely coordinated with Hanoi city in implementing many cooperation activities in the field of culture, implementing initiatives and creative design activities. Of which the most prominent event is the Vietnam Festival of Creativity and Design (in 2019, 2020, 2021) in coordination with UNESCO, Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies (VICAS) and Vietnam COLAB. This festival has attracted the participation of many businesses, organizations and individuals, etc. aimed to preserve the cultural values and heritages of Vietnam and honor the creative spirit of Vietnam.
Currently, Hanoi is actively connecting with units and organizations and participating in activities to implement the initiatives proposed by Hanoi when joining the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in 2019, especially activities to develop cultural industries in the capital until 2025, orientation to 2030, vision to 2045. RMIT University is a university of technology, design and entrepreneur education, has many creative activities in the field of Design and Education, which are in line with the goals and plans of Hanoi City.
At the meeting, the two delegations have exchanged opportunities for cooperation in training and research between RMIT University and the Department of Culture and Sports and discussed about the co-organization of the Vietnam Innovation & Design Festival in 2022, and establishment of the Center of Heritage for the Future.

Professor Tim Marshall wishes to help improve Vietnam’s human resources in the field of cultural heritage conservation and promotion, and to raise awareness among students at RMIT about traditional and cultural history of Vietnam.
During the earlier working days in Hanoi, Professor Tim Marshall and the delegation visited and met with representatives of the two relics of the Thang Long Imperial Citadel and the Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam. Thereby, the delegation also made a preliminary development plan between RMIT and the two relics. One of the main focuses of the plan is to support for technology to attract tourists as well as increase the interaction of the relics. In addition, RMIT also wants to help these relics have an online presence to reach a wide audience. Third, the University made plan to support these relics in the development of souvenir products associated with craft villages in Hanoi.
Mr. Do Dinh Hong – Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports was very pleased with the close cooperation between two sides over the past time. He hoped that in the coming time, two sides would continue to have more cooperation, especially in fields which are strengths of RMIT, such as technology, design, and fashion, etc.
