The Women’s Unions of Dong Anh district have been and continued to promote propaganda, implementation, and replication of the model of “Separating waste at source,” contributing to environmental protection in the area while effectively implementing the campaign “The capital’s women behave in a civilized manner” for the period 2022-2026.
From 126 families of women and People participating in the pilot in Luong Quan Hamlet, now the whole Viet Hung Commune has more than 1,000 participating households. After that, Dong Anh District implements a pilot model of garbage collection, classification and treatment in hamlets: Ha Lo (Lien Ha Commune), Nghia Vu (Duc Tu Commune). Now the model has been replicated to the remaining 21 communes and towns in the district to implement a program of collecting, sorting and treating waste at home. 3 communes including Lien Ha, Viet Hung and Duc Tu have implemented 100% of the villages. The remaining 20 communes and townships will deploy at least one village or residential group.
Up to now, the model “Waste separation at source” in Dong Anh district has attracted more than 7,000 participants, the number of households registered to participate increased by 146.81% compared to the first phase.
To achieve that success, over the past time, the Women’s Union of Dong Anh District has coordinated with authorities at all levels in propagandizing and mobilizing members and people to dispose of waste at source, such as: Mobilizing the participation of the Hamlet head, Party cell secretary, mass organizations follow the motto of going to each alley and each house. In addition, environmental protection propaganda is implemented regularly on commune radio stations; through the distribution of materials to guide women and people on collection and separation; provide microbiological packages to perform waste decomposition.
