As an organization of cultural activities, meeting the needs of the local people to create and enjoy the culture, in 2019, closely following the political orientation, events celebrating the major holidays of the country and locality, the district Center for Culture and Sports has cooperated with the Art Administration Office (Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports) to organize exchange performances and cultural programs serving the people in the communes and towns on the occasion of holidays and celebrations, attracting thousands of spectators. Training courses on folk dance skills are organized for performance teams and collaborators, attracting nearly 100 students. Also, the Center chose to send key individuals to participate in the Festival “Party – Spring – Nation”, Festival “Amateur Dance”, Festival “Collective Dance and Song of Capital’s Children”… at the city level, all of them achieved high results with 15 A prizes and 8 B prizes.

For library activities, Thanh Oai District Center for Culture and Sports always facilitates professional improvement for librarians, regularly receives books and newspapers according to the annual plan of the City Library and other funding sources for prompt transfer to the grassroots bookcases and serve readers at the district library. The Center coordinated with the District Education and Training Department to hold a seminar on “Developing Vietnamese culture and people in the current context of international exchange and integration”. The district successfully organized the Children’s Contest to introduce summer books in 2019, recognized by the Hanoi Library as the excellent organizer of the contest at the district level. The team participating in the Children’s Contest won the first prize, highly appreciated by the Organizing Committee for district library activities in recent years. The Center also regularly coordinates with Hanoi Library to organize the program “Knowledge wheel” at primary schools, giving students a lot of useful knowledge and experiences in learning and playing.
Activities of clubs are interested in the Center of Culture and Sports. The Center maintains regular monthly and quarterly activities for clubs; exchanges between clubs on the occasion of Tet holidays and traditional festivals in the district, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere among the people. Thanh Oai Flute and Kite Club not only operate to play a countryside game, but also participates in performances, introduces the game in many other localities, and is invited to exchange in localities. Thanh Oai Poetry Club has been established and put into operation since 23 years ago. Up to now, the club has remained steadfast in the district’s cultural development, actively contributing to the movement of building cultural life in residential areas.
The highlight in 2019 is that the Center has established the Van and Chau Van singing club to contribute to enriching, preserving and promoting the cultural heritages of Mother worship today and future. The establishment of the Van and Chau Van singing club in Thanh Oai district has created conditions for those who love traditional art to exchange, learn, practice and improve their skills in the field of culture and art, especially, the Van – Chau Van singing genre, creating a healthy playground for members…

In the early months of 2020, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, many activities had to be suspended, but Thanh Oai District Center for Culture and Sports still made great efforts to fulfill its assigned tasks. The Center participated in the Hanoi – 2020 “Party – Spring – Nation” Music Festival and won A prize; organized art exchange performances to serve the people in the district to welcome 2020 Lunar New Year of Rat, art program celebrating the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Communist Party, celebrating 130 years of President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday … The Center opens its library to regularly serve readers, organizes propaganda to introduce books on the spot, display books and newspapers according to topics, organizes a program to record poetry to serve 2020 Spring (the year of Rat); helps district clubs organize activities, encourage members to participate in composing, introducing and transmitting cultural and artistic values in the district.
Such results are obtained thanks to the efforts, solidarity and responsibility of those who work in culture and art so that culture and art are the mental foundation, creating a driving force to promote economic local socio-economic development.
