The exhibition is taking place online at https://artspaces.kunstmatrix.com/en/exhibition/8123670/exhibition-is-a-girl-to-shine? and also aims to enhance people’s awareness, contributing to changing people’s attitudes and behaviors towards gender selection based on gender stereotypes.

The online exhibition will take place until the end of December 5, 2021.

The exhibition “Girls deserve to shine” displays 65 paintings/photos, selected from nearly 380 entries by participants from 23 provinces and cities across the country, reflecting the diverse perspectives, authentic stories about the daily lives of grandmothers, mothers, female doctors, nurses, and many other women, with different ages, jobs and roles together. Their common point is always making efforts and dedicating themselves to the happiness of the family and the development of society.

Ms. Naomi Kitahara, United Nations Population Fund Representative in Vietnam shared: “We believe that this online exhibition will contribute to raising people’s awareness of the negative impacts of gender selection based on gender stereotypes. Girls should enjoy the same rights and opportunities as boys. Girls deserve to shine.”

Ms. Nguyen Van Anh, Director of CSAGA shared: “Online exhibitions are a new form of communication in Vietnam, especially in the context of Covid-19. Through this exhibition, we hope that people and couples, especially young couples, will realize the role and value of women and girls, do not deprive girls of the opportunity to be born, to let girls be born naturally because every girl deserves to be recognized and cherished.”

The exhibition reflects diverse perspectives, true stories about the daily lives of grandmothers and mothers of different ages, jobs and roles.

It’s time, we need to have a more fair view, that women and men have their own values and roles, and can contribute to the family and society. And anyone, regardless of gender or age, job or social position, deserves to be recognized and appreciated for their values and contributions to this life.

The works will be on display until December 5, 2021.
