In a letter to the organizer of F1 Hanoi race and partners, Mr. Chase Carey, Chairman of Formula 1, stated: “We still believe in the plan to start this season in Europe in the coming months of July, August, and September, with the first race scheduled to take place in Austria from July 3 to 5. The next races are scheduled to take place in Europe, Asia, and America in September, October, and November, respectively. The season will end in December with the Bahrain race (the race that had previously been postponed along with F1 Hanoi) and finish in Abu Dhabi (UAE) with a total of about 15 – 18 races. We will announce the final schedule as soon as possible. ”

F1 Hanoi race may take place in November 2020.

Thus, F1 Chairman’s statement means that F1 Hanoi may take place in November 2020 after a delay due to Covid-19. However, the specific time and whether or not the race will actually take place will depend on the negotiations between the parties. Currently, the F1 Hanoi organizer has dismantled the grandstands at the racetrack; however, there’s still a chance that the race will return at an appropriate time, possibly November.

Also according to F1 Chairman, the first races of this season may be held without spectators. However, Mr. Chase Carey hopes the audience will be able to participate in cheering in the following races. “In order to organize the season, we will have to come up with solutions for many issues, such as the workflow for teams and organizational units in each country. The health and safety of all stakeholders continues to be a top priority, so we will only organize the season when it is sufficiently reliable to address the risks. We look forward to coming back soon, bringing joy and excitement to the F1 community”.

The F1 Hanoi Race, the first F1 race to be held in Vietnam, has been an event of great interest to the people. The race was expected to take place from April 3 to 5. To prepare for this race, all work has been completed by the parties involved. However, due to fears of the impact of the outbreak of Covid-19 epidemic in many countries around the world, the F1 races, including the Hanoi race, had to be postponed indefinitely.
