In order to promote the cultural value of the Lunar New Year, Dinh Lang Viet Club has organized a Vietnamese Tet program in the communal house of So Village, Quoc Oai, Hanoi in 2016, 2017, 2018. The Vietnamese Tet program has been highly appreciated by the community and the media. Up to now, after 3 years of organization, the Vietnamese Tet Program of Dinh Lang Viet Club has become an annual activity when spring comes, becoming a year-end cultural event expected by the community.

The goal of Vietnamese Tet program is to preserve and promote the cultural values of Vietnamese people, enhance the value of the communal house, especially the cultural space around the house which is in danger of being ignored under pressure of urbanization and international integration. In addition, through Vietnamese Tet activities, young people may pay more attention to the traditional cultural values of their ancestors. This is a great opportunity to promote the local culture and tourism to international friends through media, social networks and the participants.

Moreover, the Vietnamese Tet program is a cultural event completely implemented by the community, to raise the awareness of the community on the preservation, diffusion and promotion of the heritage values, in particular, raising the awareness of the community on a healthy, economical and cultural identity rich “festival”.

Through 3 times of organization, Dinh Lang Viet Club has gradually learned experiences to make the organization better, not disordered in activities; avoiding activities deviating from traditional cultural identity; protecting environment; creating the cohesion between the community and the participants. Coming to “Vietnamese Tet holiday”, the youth of the Capital will be able to participate in wrapping and boiling Chung cakes, exchanging culture and arts.

In particular, in order to raise people’s awareness, the Vietnamese Tet program has carried out communication activities for attendees to be civilized, polite and conscious in participating in “festival”, not to invade relics, burn incenses, burn votive papers, to self-serve in eating and drinking, preserve the relics, environmental sanitation, respect the tradition, different customs of the locality, respect the elderly and support children’s participation etc.

According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Binh – Head of the Program Organization Committee, Dinh Lang Viet Club has decided to change the program location this year with the purpose of spreading the values of the Vietnamese Tet holiday. Vietnamese Tet 2019 will be held in Le Mat village, Viet Hung ward, Long Bien district, Hanoi. Main activities will  take place in the communal house  on January 26 and 27, 2019 (i.e  December 21 and 22) with many interesting cultural activities. In particular, January 26, 2019 (December 21) will be reserved for international students who want to learn about Vietnamese Tet customs and culture. The main activities of the Vietnamese Tet 2019 will take place on January 27, 2019 with activities including setting up Neu trees, singing Xoan, singing Cua Dinh; talkshow, arts performance, writing calligraphy, drawing Tet paintings, talking about local customs, printing folk paintings, wrapping and boiling Chung cakes etc.

The Vietnamese Tet program organized by Dinh Lang Viet Club with funding from socialized sources is not only to spread the traditional values in the community, but also to promote the local cultural images on the communication media. The program is a channel to promote culture, tourism to the community and international friends.
