The online art program “Fire Up” No. 4 was conducted with the participation of 4 leading Vietnamese art troupes, with a very special combination of various art forms such as contemporary dance, traditional Tuong (classical drama), and new Circus.

The audience may enjoy a lot of rich and unique art performances by famous artists, thereby understanding the beauty, the uniqueness of each art form.

As a part of the series of programs “Sharing love, overcoming the pandemic” launched by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and conducted by the Department of Performing Arts and 12 theatres of the Ministry, the program “Fire up” No. 4 is expected to take place at 5 venues in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The program is led by MCs Meritorious Artist Xuan Bac, the Director of the Vietnam National Drama Theatre, and Miss Do My Linh. Attending the program were two guests: singer Vicky Nhung and a doctor who is participating in the frontline of the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Program “Fire Up” No. 4 will take place on the evening of September 1 with special art performances such as contemporary dance of an excerpt from “Firefly Season” by Vietnam National Opera and Ballet; “The old man carries his young wife to the festival” by Vietnam National Tuong Theatre; “Dog circus clown” by the Vietnam Circus Federation; and the song “Staying at home” by Vicky Nhung. The performances are interwoven with talks to guests and some games with prizes.

Meritorious Artist Xuan Bac said that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s series of online art programs aim to give spiritual strength to the entire people and forces on duty to prevent and control the Covid-19 pandemic. At the same time, this is also an opportunity for theatres to introduce their famous performances and excerpts of each art form performed by leading famous artists. Therefore, for this program, we do not create a separate topic but choose the most popular performances available at the theatres.

According to Meritorious Artist Xuan Bac, the reason he asked the organizing committee to invite singer Vicky Nhung to the program is that he heard her song “Staying at home” on VOV that was shared a lot on social media. The song with funny tunes has brought positive energy, encouraging people to strictly adhere to the distancing regulations and to overcome these difficult days soon.

Meritorious Artist Kieu Oanh, who will perform the two characters of an old man and a young wife at the same time in Tuong performance “The old man carries his young wife to the festival”, shared that she and her colleagues were very excited to be invited to the program “Fire Up” No. 4. Vietnam National Tuong Theatre has been stopped performing for a year. Having no chance to perform, each artist feels nostalgia for the profession, for the limelight, and desires to continue to perform. Therefore, the online art programs of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism have been actively supported with enthusiasm by leaders of theatres and artists.

The program “Fire up” No. 4 as well as the series of programs “Sharing love, overcoming the pandemic” organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, is expected to not only entertain the audience during the social distancing time, but also introduce the public a new way of enjoying online art. Thanks to that, people may enjoy many unique and typical art performances of different art forms without having to go to theatres. This orientation appears to be very suitable in the context of the complicated Covid-19 pandemic.
