After notifying the casting for the new movie “578”, in just over a month, nearly 500 applications were submitted from all over the country and also from France, England, Korea, Japan, and China.

Aiming at performing casting in real scenes instead of in studio, 100 selected candidates, including swimmers, martial artists, bodybuilders, wrestlers, professional or amateur actors and even amateurs. together with the production team had to move over 100km to Da Trang Pass in Mai Chau, Hoa Binh, which is famous for gorgeous but abrupt scenery. This is also the first time a Vietnamese director has carried out a casting in real sites.

“Being a big action movie, 578 employs only good actors. This on-site casting is conducted for some purpose: to test whether the actors are suitable for the real scenes, to help them show their ability at their most comfortable and practical state and in an interesting and inspirational environment, and to check the health, patience, and enthusiasm of the casting participants.” said Director Luong Dinh Dung.
In the casting session, there will be 2 parts: Part 1: “Individual acting” & Part 2 “Combined, static and dynamic acting.”
Explaining the reason for conducting an on-site casting, director Luong Dinh Dung said that he took participants to the real scenes and filmed them using multiple cameras at different angles in order to sort out the actors who perform well both in their acting and their appearance. All successful candidates will be trained by Hollywood and Korean martial arts experts before shooting the movie.
“578” is an action movie project about pedophile with production cost of up to VND 60 billion. This is also the first Vietnamese movie project made by director Luong Dinh Dung which has called upon the community’s action. The movie tells about the life of a container driver and his little daughter, which is a nomadic journey on a red container decorated with colorful toys. Their life went on like that until the daughter was sent away for school. One day, the father was informed that his daughter was suffering from severe depression. He was painful discovering that she underwent sexual abuse. On the journey to find justice for the daughter, the father had to confront with the fierce pursuit and chase, fight and purge and then realized that he not only confronted an abuser.
With the expected number of participants of up to 600, the movie was filmed in Son La, Yen Bai, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh city. After the casting session in Northern Vietnam, the one in Southern Vietnam is scheduled to take place on April 7-8 in Ho Chi Minh city.
