Due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic globally, at present, 8 races of the Formula 1 season 2020 are delayed/canceled. Facing the expectations of the fans, F1 organized a virtual race in the form of online games called F1 Esports Virtual Grand Prix.

The Hanoi F1 virtual race was also held on April 5 – on schedule originally scheduled for the 2020 tournament. Hanoi F1 race on April 5, 2020, of F1 Esports Virtual Grand Prix, was simulated on the Australian Albert Park racetrack model (because Hanoi Race is not available on F1 video game system in 2019). The drivers officially agreeing to join this race are Charles Leclerc, Alex Albon, George Russell, Lando Norris and Nicholas Latifi.

The F1 virtual race has 28 laps and will be reported live on the official Formula 1 YouTube, Twitter and Facebook channels with an expected duration of about 1 and a half hours. Virtual Grand Prix will also be broadcast live on channels of F1 international partners such as Sky Sports and Sky Sports Main Event.

Hanoi F1 race has the participation of drivers Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris, Nicholas Latifi, George Russell, Alex Albon and Antonio Giovinazzi. Former F1 stars participating in the race include Former World Champion Jenson Button with Johnny Herbert, Anthony Davidson, Stoffel Vandoorne and Esteban Gutierrez. In addition, the race also has the participation of world cricket champion Ben Stokes and 19-year-elder brother Arthur Leclerc of Charles Leclerc.

Driver Charles Leclerc said he started participating in the official F1 game only 8 days ago but spent about 5 hours a day practising as well as participating in online sessions with F1 drivers George Russell, Alex Albon, Norris and Nicholas Latifi. For him, besides winning the race, the bigger goal is to bring joy to fans during the period of limited social contact because of COVID-19 epidemic.


Hanoi F1 race circuit is the new race of Formula 1 in 2020, attracting the special attention of teams.
