Hanoi Library organized “Reading Day” at Thanh Mai elementary school.

Aiming to strengthen the understanding and using of public library of young student, and forming in them habits of reading and doing research using books, publications and internet; to encourage and support life-long study; at the same time helping the Hanoi Library to expand their scope of activity, search, approach and effectively exploit the group of potential readers, utilize the value of books, journals in society; the Mobile Hanoi Library has traveled with books, the internet and multimedia equipment to help young students have a quick and effective access, help to spread the love for books, and bring an new “proactive, flexible, positive and friendly” image.

The Thanh Mai elementary school has 23 classes with 925 students. The scholl library has more han 5.000 books, in which 3.000 are for teachers’ usage, and 2000 for students. Currently, many books have aged and need to replenish. The Mobile service of Hanoi Library has helped teachers and students at Thanh Mai elementary school to access to knowledge in a richer and more divers way, helped improve the quality of teaching and studying in school. At “Reading Day”, young students can explore, choose and read more than 500 books, journals such as: comics, fairy tales, historical, science, instruction for reading on computer, movie, play brain games, practice life skills… At the same time, the staff of Hanoi Library guide these young student ways to read effectively and interactive activities with books or conduct the experiments written in books.

“Reading Day” is a useful activity. It facilitates young student to access to helpful, interesting books, which could ignite a passion for reading and developing a reading culture in schools.
