Hanoi has been well-implemented in serving citizens in Ky Hoi Lunar New Year in a happy, safe, healthy, and economical manner, revealed Mr. Pham Quy Tien, Chief of the Office of Hanoi People’s Committee:

Before and after the Lunar New Year, ensuring political security, social order and safety in the city was implemented effectively. Competent forces absolutely protected the safety in key areas and objectives, early spring festivals, crowded entertainment spots; Tet visit and greetings of leaders of the Party and State; cultural, artistic performance and firework display … Criminal crime was restrained, no serious case happened.

In particular, the City has well implemented policies for families with meritorious services, the poor, retired officials, especially focusing on remote areas and ethnic minorities. Up to February 01st 2019 (i.e. December 27, Mau Tuat), Tet visit was completed and 1,371,199 Tet gifts were presented to policy beneficiaries, people with meritorious services and poor households with the total amount of over 541 billion VND. All the people citywide enjoyed Tet.

The situation of supply and demand, commodity price in Hanoi before and after the Lunar New Year was stable, there was no scarcity, lack of goods or sudden price increase. The basic items met the citizens’ purchase demand during Tet. The City’s competent sectors also enhanced market inspection and control, price stabilization, anti-smuggling and trade fraud. In addition, food safety assurance and disease prevention were well performed, no food poison case was recorded on this occasion.

The assurance of traffic order and safety, passenger transport during the Lunar New Year were also implemented effectively in Hanoi. Before, during and after Tet, the city’s competent forces effectively took measures to ensure traffic safety and passenger transport; there was no surge in ticket prices, no roundabout car and the situation that passengers have to stay at the station due to the ticket. Generally, during the Tet holiday, there was 23,000 times of vehicles in and out stations in the city carrying the passengers of approximately 345,000. Passenger transport by bus during Tet holiday also increased by 1.06% compared to the same period in 2018 with over 96,000 times and over 7.69 million passengers (increase by 2.1% compared to the same period in 2018).

Ky Hoi Lunar New Year 2019, traffic accidents in the city also decreased in all three criteria: the number of cases decreased by 40% compared to the same period in 2018. Roads to the downtown were locally jammed at some sections in a short time, no long line congestion occurred.

Moreover, in the Tet holiday 2019, it is estimated that Hanoi welcomed 514,866 tourists (increased by 10.3 % as compared to the same period last year) in which there were 162,676 international tourists (up 15%) and ones with accommodation of 114,199 (increase by 12%). Total revenue from tourists was over 2,039 billion dong (increase by 33%).

Hanoi directed all levels, sectors and localities to focus on implementing 8 key tasks after Tet, namely: strengthening traffic safety and order, arranging mobile forces and patrol forces at key roads, arteries, amusement parks and festivals in early Spring; strengthening the festival management and organization, organizing and inspecting the arrangement of shops and vehicle parking service, ensuring security and traffic safety, strictly handling price squeeze, intended price increase, insistent tourist invitation, said Pham Quy Tien,  Chief of Hanoi People’s Committee Office.

Hanoi People’s Committee also requested all the levels, sectors and localities to boost inspection and supervision of implementing administration and public affairs disciplines. Particularly, that officers, public servants use office’s vehicle for Tet Visit or festival participation… in the administrative hour was prohibited and strictly handled in case of occurrence.

Culture, art and sport events are prepare thoroughly and effectively. Apart from events held during Tet such as: firework display, art performance, calligraphy festival…, recently, the Department has successfully held two sport events, namely: Hanoi Open Dragon Boat Racing Festival 2019 on February 16th and 17th on West Lake and three-day traditional wrestling competition in Phuc Tho District, attracting nearly 3.000 spectators.

In festival organization and management, Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports coordinated and directed localities to well execute propaganda throughout the festival as well as propaganda on Public Code of Conduct.

Up to February 19 (Full moon in Lunar January 2019), there has been over 300 festivals held in 30 districts, towns citywide. Specially, some large-scale festivals, namely: Huong Pagoda, Dong Da Mound, Soc Temple, Co Loa… featured urgent and synchronous coordination, hence constituting safe, civilized and economical festivals. Besides, the inspection on festival organization and management was also implemented.

On this occasion, Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports established 02 inspection delegations and implemented inspection in festival such as West lake temple (Tay Ho District), Ha Pagoda (Cau Giay district), Huong Pagoda ( My Duc district), Soc Temple (Soc Son), etc.

In particular, through the hotline number 0869.295538, Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports received and handled many reflections in some locations such as: Tai Bia Ba (Ha Dong district), Tran Quoc Pagoda (Tay Ho district) with higher ticket price as prescribed; Huong pagoda with price squeeze of boat tourists ; Dau Pagoda (Thuong Tin district) with encroachment of food booths, leading to inaesthetic scenery and traffic disorder  … For all the above reflections, the Department actively exchanged with local authorities to promptly solve.
