At the Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam relic, after two months of closing the implementation of social distancing and isolation of COVID-19 epidemic, today (May 14, 2020), the relic has reopened. Before that, all preparations to ensure the safety of welcoming visitors were completed. Areas of the site that have been sprayed with disinfection, sanitized and equipped with hand disinfectors next to the aisles and toilets.
To welcome visitors on the first day of reopening, at the entrance to the main gate of Van Mieu, there are flags and brick background is lined with white painted boxes 1m apart for customers to line up, body temperature is measured before entering visit relics.

 Epidemic prevention is still guaranteed at the relics.

The first visitors to the relic came from Ho Chi Minh City and some universities in Hanoi, creating a new atmosphere after the relic was closed for a long time.

 However, the number of visitors to Van Mieu decreased significantly compared to before the outbreak.

Like Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam, Hoa Lo Prison relic was brightly reopened. In particular, towards the 130th anniversary of Uncle Ho’s birthday (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2020), on the first day of reopening, the Hoa Lo Prison relic opened the exhibition “Aspiration to freedom”. The exhibition will tell touching stories of loyal soldiers who did not accept the death in colonial and imperial prisons and was determined to escape prisons to return to the revolution and people, to regain independence and freedom of the nation.

 At the Hoa Lo prison relic, the first activity of the reopening day was to exhibition “Aspiration for freedom”, so the number of visitors was higher than that at other relic sites.

Right at the ticket offices, information for disease prevention has been fully provided, visitors are also instructed to wash hands, disinfect, and measure body temperature.

 However, epidemic prevention is still guaranteed.

Proactively seeking new directions

In parallel with the measures to prevent the COVID-19 epidemic, ensuring safety for tourists and workers, the relics in Hanoi have also actively searched for new directions to attract visitors after the epidemic. The quality of service for tourists visiting the relic is improved, from service quality, service style to products and services to meet the increasing demand of tourists.

Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam cultural and scientific activity center continues to develop special souvenir products associated with the typical values ​​of the relic. The products with typical motifs and patterns of Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam together with images associated with Vietnam’s academic traditions, produced in traditional craft villages, using eco-friendly materials such as bamboo, wood, fabric… are designed with new contemporary perspectives to create their own characteristics. Each souvenir product acts as a “brand ambassador” of Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam.

The heritage educational activities according to the new method at the relic are promoted, focusing on enhancing the interactive and experimental activities to create excitement for students when participating. This can help students who come to Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam to better understand the heritage and realize the diverse values ​​of Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam, develop many skills through experimental activities proactively, actively and creatively. Heritage education topics including the combination of folk elements with modern technology facilities are built and promoted effectively at the Heritage Experience Zone, bringing many rich and engaging experimental activities.
The presentations are built based on the theme to meet the diverse needs of visitors. The exhibitions have been improved by modern and scientific display methods, contributing to enhancing the attractiveness of Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam.
At Hoa Lo Prison relic, visitors will experience an automatic narration system with 35 touching and fascinating stories about typical characters, events and artifacts associated with the relic. In addition, delegations can choose to participate in many meaningful programs and activities such as making incense at the Monument, exchanging with historical witnesses, contest of knowledge about Hoa Lo Prison, Party cell activities, organization of admission ceremony of party members, union members, members…
Mr. Dang Van Bieu, Deputy Head of Hoa Lo Prison Relic Management Board, said that the first 500 visitors from the first day of opening will receive meaningful souvenirs featuring the relic.
