According to the 2023 ranking of the world’s most livable cities released by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), Hanoi has climbed 20 places compared to 2022, securing the 129th position.

The EIU, a research group affiliated with the reputable economic magazine The Economist (UK), conducted the evaluation.

Over the past 12 months, the Hanoi capital has made a remarkable leap, advancing 20 places to be included in the “World’s Most Livable Cities” list.

 

Vienna, Austria’s capital, continues to be honored at the top spot. Experts attribute Vienna’s success to the convergence of various factors, ranging from a robust cultural and entertainment scene to reliable infrastructure and standardized education and healthcare services.

Following closely is Copenhagen, Denmark, securing the second position, while Australian cities, including Sydney and Melbourne, claim the third and fourth spots.

EIU evaluated 173 cities worldwide, considering criteria such as healthcare quality, crime rates, political stability, infrastructure, and green environment.

In the top 10, it is noteworthy that Canada boasts three cities, with Vancouver at 5th place, Calgary at 7th, and Toronto at 9th.

Among the top positions, Asia is represented by Osaka, Japan, at the 10th spot. Osaka experienced a slight improvement in its cultural and environmental ranking.

Beyond the top 10 most livable cities globally, EIU also provided a list of cities that experienced significant ranking advancements in the past 12 months. Surprisingly, Hanoi is among them, standing as the only city from Vietnam mentioned in the EIU report. The city has climbed 20 places compared to 2022, securing the 129th position.
