Attending the event were comrades: Tran Thi Phuong – Standing Vice Chairman of Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations; Pham Xuan Tai – Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports; Nguyen Thanh Hai – Head of the External Propaganda Department of the City Fatherland Front Committee and international delegates as the United Nations’ Representatives in Vietnam; embassies of Sweden, Czech Republic in Vietnam, etc.

The tournament includes men’s singles, men’s doubles, competing in age groups 31-40, 41-50, 51-55, attracting the participation of nearly 100 amateur players from the Department of Culture and Sports; Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations and member Friendship Associations; embassies and international organizations such as: Korea, Russia, France, Czech, Switzerland, United Nations, European Union, etc.

This is an annual tournament with the aim of creating favorable conditions for foreign diplomats working in Hanoi to take the opportunity to meet and interact with officials of the culture, sports and foreign affairs of the capital, thereby contributing to strengthening the solidarity and friendship between the people of Hanoi capital and international friends.

At the opening ceremony, the Standing Vice Chairman of Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations Tran Thi Phuong affirmed that sport brings miracles to the world and people.

The nations of the world, whether big or small, far or near, friendly or unfamiliar, came together in friendship on a level and friendly playing field.

Only sport can help people break down the distances and bring them altogether.

“The tournament contributes to propagating and promoting to international friends the image of peaceful Hanoi capital where people are dynamic, enthusiastic and love sports; at the same time, strengthening coordination with embassies of other countries in friendly exchange activities, building cooperation bridges in fields of interest to the parties, contributing to promoting international integration, and attracting investment and cooperation in socio-economic development with other capitals and countries in the world,” emphasized Comrade Tran Thi Phuong.

Athletes competing in the men’s doubles match

Immediately after the opening ceremony, amateur athletes excitedly participated in the competition, offering the audience dramatic matches with good and beautiful balls.

As the final result, in the men’s singles event, the Organizing Committee awarded the first prize in the age group of 31-40 to athlete Choi Jin Kyu (Korean Association in Vietnam); age group 41-50 for athlete Jorge Chiou (Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam); age group 51-55 for athlete Tran Ngoc Kinh (Vietnam-Bulgaria Friendship Association).

In the men’s doubles event, two athletes Kwon Yong Hyun-Kim Dong Cheol (Korean Association in Vietnam) won the first prize in the age group 31-40; Nguyen Doan Minh-Nguyen Duc Anh (Vietnam-Palestinine Friendship Association) won the first prize in the age group 41-50; Doan Anh Trung-Le Anh Dung (Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association) won the first prize in the age group 51-55.

In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded the first prize of the whole delegation to the Korean Association in Vietnam./.
