In the past time, Hanoi’s athletes such as Vuong Thi Huyen (49kg) and her teammates including Thach Kim Tuan (61kg), Hoang Thi Duyen (59kg) have performed excellently at tournaments to accumulate points for the Olympics. This is the base they qualified for to officially be at the Summer Olympics.

Hanoi’s athlete Vuong Thi Huyen officially won ticket to the 2020 Olympics.

Previously, on June 11, IWF announced the official list of athletes: Vuong Thi Huyen (49kg), Hoang Thi Duyen (59kg) and Thach Kim Tuan (61kg) who are eligible to be awarded tickets. However, Vietnam had 4 athletes found to be doping in international tournaments in 2019 and 2020, Vietnamese weightlifters had to wait for the final decision on the official number of slots to attend the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and all both were “safe”, and no penalty.

It is the letter of confirmation issued by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) on recognizing that Vietnamese weightlifters have 3 slots to attend the Tokyo Olympics.

According to Mr. Do Dinh Khang, the General Secretary of the Vietnam Weightlifting & Fitness Federation, “We have been emailed by the IOC to confirm our recognition of 3 official slots for this year’s Olympic Games. We can breathe a sigh of relief without being punished for doping and lose seats or be banned from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. An email has been sent to the Vietnam Olympic Committee today, June 12”.

Vuong Thi Huyen has enough points to participate in the Olympics.

Thus, with constant practice and efforts, Hanoi’s athlete, Vuong Thi Huyen has achieved her goal of winning tickets to the Tokyo Olympics 2020. And with a place to attend the Tokyo Olympics 2020, this is the second time this capital athlete can participate in the Olympic arena. Previously, Vuong Thi Huyen attended the Rio Olympics 2016 with the only place of female team won in the Asian qualifiers.
