Hanoi women maintain the first place at the National Men’s and Women’s Boxing Championships in 2021

The National Men’s and Women’s Boxing Championships 2021 will take place at the Bac Ninh Multi-Purpose Gymnasium, organized by Bac Ninh Province and the Vietnam Boxing Federation. Participating in this year’s tournament, more than 300 boxers from 25 provinces, cities and industries across the country competed in two age groups of men and women: 17-18..

The National Men’s and Women’s Boxing Championships 2021 will take place at the Bac Ninh Multi-Purpose Gymnasium, organized by Bac Ninh Province and the Vietnam Boxing Federation. Participating in this year’s tournament, more than 300 boxers from 25 provinces, cities and industries across the country competed in two age groups of men and women: 17-18 years old and 19-40 years old. In each age group, there are 14 male weight classes and 13 female weight classes. Compared to the tournament 2020, this year’s tournament increased 3 men’s weight classes and 2 women’s weight classes.

Boxer Nguyen Thi Tam (Hanoi, red armor) easily defeated Nguyen Thanh Thi (Ho Chi Minh City) to win the gold medal in the women’s 52kg class.

At the end of the tournament, at the age of 19-40, the Hanoi boxers won 1st place in the content aged 19-40 with 5 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 5 bronze medals. An Giang surprised with 2nd place with 1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals. Tien Giang ranked third with 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal.
At the age of 17-18, the Hanoi delegation with 3 gold medals and 2 silver medals continued to take first place; Thai Binh team with 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal, 1 bronze medal ranked second and Thanh Hoa team with 1 gold medal and 1 bronze medal finished third.
In the men’s event aged 19-40, the military delegation continued to affirm its No. 1 position with 6 gold medals and 1 bronze medal. Host Bac Ninh ranked 2nd with 3 gold and 3 bronze medals. The male boxers of Binh Duong ranked 3rd with 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal.

The organizers awarded medals to female athletes aged 17-18.

In the weight classes from 17-18 years old, in the men’s weight classes, the Army delegation continued to hold the No. 1 position with 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals, 1 bronze medal; followed by Ho Chi Minh City (2 gold medals, 2 silver medals, 1 bronze medal) and Thanh Hoa (2 gold medals).

Despite facing many difficulties in the current pandemic situation, the National Men’s and Women’s Boxing Championship 2021 has ended successfully. Before that, for the safety of the members of the delegation, the National Men’s and Women’s Boxing Championships  2021 was held under a closed process under strict conditions to ensure the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic following regulations and current requirements, to ensure the safety of the community as well as athletes. Accordingly, all participating teams must send information about the number of members, travel schedule and PCR test results within 72 hours before arriving in Bac Ninh. During the tournament, the delegations will be arranged to eat, stay, move as well as test every 3 days.

This is a pre-SEA Games tournament, so in addition to assessing the level, ability and competitive ability of boxing athletes nationwide, it is also an opportunity to detect and select excellent athletes to join the national team for training and participating in international tournaments.
