The exhibition “Stand up and raise your voice” contributes to honoring the journey of journalists for the country – journalists following President Ho Chi Minh’s example; honoring the contributions of the Vietnamese revolutionary press in the two wars of resistance against the French colonialists and the American imperialists, including journalistic products made in colonial and imperial prisons. The exhibition is also a tribute to the journalists-soldiers who sacrificed their lives and devoted themselves to the glorious cause of revolutionary journalism.

The exhibit covers two topics: “Voice of the nation” and “Act for the country, raise the voice for the people”. The topic “Voice of the nation” shows some historical imprints on the 97-year journey of formation and development of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press, since President Ho Chi Minh laid the first foundation. During his life of revolutionary activities, he used over 170 pseudonyms to write over 2,000 articles in many languages and different genres. His articles are both nationalistic but also modern, both combative and powerfully persuasive. Engraving the teachings of President Ho Chi Minh on their mind, journalists – soldiers always stay determined and have strong faith, contributing to raise the voice of aspirations of national independence, freedom, peace and construction. Even when imprisoned in colonial and imperial prisons, patriotic and revolutionary soldiers still used their pen as a weapon to break the shackles. At Hoa Lo Prison, in order to beat the wrong position of the Kuomintang prisoners and enlighten them to join the revolution, the Prison Party Cell released newspapers: “The main pathway”, “Vietnamese torch”, “Prisons”… penned and directed by comrades Truong Chinh, Le Duan and Trinh Dinh Cuu.

The topic “Act for the country, raise the voice for the people” is expressed through 3 sub-sections: Act for the country: Telling stories about courageous journalists and soldiers on the fierce battlefield. For the sake of the Fatherland, they are willing to overcome all difficulties to bring to life authentic works that reflect the fierceness of the wars. Sacrifice for the Fatherland: Honoring the reporters who joined the wars, many of whom stay forever on the battlefield. Many reporters sacrificed themselves when rushing into danger to get authentic photos and videos, such as journalist and martyr Tran Mai Ninh; journalist and martyr Tran Kim Xuyen; journalist, martyr, armed force hero Le Dinh Du; Cinematographer and martyr Nguyen Van Gia. Raising the voice for the sake of the people is a space to display creative artifacts. Artifacts associated with the Vietnamese revolutionary journalism career are introduced in a cluster of hollowed-out artifacts cabinets combined with pulling rails, creating a new experience for visitors who can pull out the rails to see the artifacts inside.

The exhibition “Stand up and raise your voice” was launched on May 18 and lasts until December 31, 2022 at Hoa Lo Prison Relic, No. 1 Hoa Lo, Tran Hung Dao, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi./.
