On December 8, at the Dinh Cong Thuong Communal House – Temple relic complex, the opening ceremony of a short-term training course on the traditional silver jewelry making, Dinh Cong ward, took place.

Speaking at the opening of the training class, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee cum the Chairwoman of Dinh Cong Ward People’s Committee, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Phuong said that according to legend, 300 years ago, this was the birthplace of 3 Jewelry Patriarchs. They learned the profession and taught it to the village people, passing it down from generation to generation. Dinh Cong silver jewelry making profession developed, becoming one of the four most elite professions in the ancient capital of Thang Long. A number of artisans were allowed to go to the Citadel to make jewelry for the Royal Court, and many good craftsmen went to Thang Long to establish their careers on Hang Bac street today. Dinh Cong’s silver jewelry products were famous throughout the ancient capital and many artisans came to the capital to make jewelry for the court.

Faced with the situation where traditional crafts and villages in the capital are at risk of being forgotten, in order to revive traditional craft villages and develop the craft village tourism economy, with careful preparation, Dinh Cong ward decided to organize the first traditional silver jewelry making training classes.
Silver jewelry making used to bring the main income for the people of Dinh Cong Thuong village. Over time, the profession of making silver jewelry gradually disappeared, and now there are only two families working and maintaining the profession. Silver jewelry products have now been created by artisans, creating products with high applicability and aesthetics, loved by domestic and foreign customers, and chosen as gifts, jewelry, and decorative products, etc. Although the number of orders is increasing, the craftsmen are too low, not guaranteed to meet large orders, ordering time, and supply do not meet demand.
Faced with that need, the traditional silver jewelry making profession of Dinh Cong receives great attention from city, district and ward leaders, creating conditions to restore and develop and promote the profession, in which vocational training is extremely important to ensure human resources for the profession, meet orders, and promote brand development.
With the efforts of the Ward People’s Committee and Artisans, the plan to preserve and develop the traditional profession of Dinh Cong silver jewelry making has been paid attention and facilitated by the People’s Committee of Hoang Mai District. The plan has been approved for vocational training and supported funds for organizing the first short-term vocational training class for children and people living in the ward and in the district, with an expected number of 35 students.
After completing the training class, students will be granted a short-term vocational training certificate by Dinh Cong Silver Jewelry Cooperative; introduced training to improve qualifications and skills, and jobs to develop careers and increase income.
At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded Decision No. 6086/QD-UBND of the City People’s Committee, dated November 29, 2023, allowing Dinh Cong Silver Jewelry Cooperative to use the place name – Dinh Cong, to register the collective trademark of Dinh Cong silver jewelry, for silver jewelry buying and selling services in the ward.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, the delegates visited the classroom space and directly admired and purchased sophisticated and highly applicable silver jewelry products made by skilled artisans and craftsmen in Dinh Cong.
