Delegates of Phuc Tho district includes Comrade Nguyen Doan Hoan – Member of the City Party Committee, Secretary of the District Party Committee; Comrade Doan Tuan Anh – Permanent Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the District People’s Council; Comrade Doan Trung Tuan – Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the District People’s Committee; together with leaders of the People’s Council, People’s Committee, Fatherland Front Committee, district departments, branches, socio-political organizations, leaders of communes, towns and a large number of people.

The opening ceremony of the Congress was held with many lively and attractive contents with a parade to show the strength of 38 units, nearly 3,000 athletes representing departments, branches, socio-political organizations, students and people in 21 communes and towns in the area.

The traditional torch relay is solemnly held. The torch was relayed by typical athletes from Hat Mon Temple to the stand and given to comrade Nguyen Doan Hoan – Member of the City Party Committee, Secretary of the Phuc Tho District Party Committee to light the fire station, a symbol of faith and victory.

At the opening of the Congress, Comrade Doan Trung Tuan – Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the District People’s Committee said: Following Uncle Ho’s teachings “Cultivation of the soil serves 10 years’ interest, cultivation of mind serves 100 years interest”. Over the years, the Party Committee, authorities and people of Phuc Tho District have always determined that the development of physical exercise and sports is an active contribution to the implementation of the tasks of socio-economic development, national defense and security, health promotion, will practicing, education of morality, personality and lifestyle, improvement of cultural and spiritual life for all classes of people, especially focus on training the young generation.
Phuc Tho district has had many undertakings and policies to promote and develop the sport movement, promote the positive effects of sports in improving health, enriching cultural and spiritual life, building people’s healthy lifestyle, repelling social evils. The District People’s Committee has issued documents, policies and address concerns for athletes, coaches and referees. Technical infrastructure for sports activities has been gradually invested in association with cultural institutions, mobilizing the combined resources of the whole society for the sports sector.
Over the years, the District People’s Committee has gradually supported the investment in building sports fields, installing outdoor sports equipment in communes and towns, creating motivation for the people to promote the movement of the entire population to do exercise, following great Uncle Ho. Thanks to these efforts, physical exercise and sports have become a popular mass movement attracting all classes of people in the district to participate.

The quality of the sport movement is developing more and more widely. Sports clubs operate effectively in both quantity and quality. The percentage of people who practice sports regularly is over 34.5%, the number of sports households is 33.81%. From 2017 to now, district athletes have participated in national and international tournaments and won over 200 medals of all kinds; 633 medals at the city-organized tournaments were achieved (211 Gold medals, 197 Silver medals, 225 Bronze medals). Especially, at the 2021 Southeast Asian Games held in Hanoi, the district’s athletes achieved high achievements with 05 medals in competitions: athletics, karate, kickboxing, including 02 gold medals, 02 silver medals and 01 bronze medal. Phuc Tho district’s athletes have created a 31st SEA Games which is wonderful, successful, impressive, emotional, memorable, deeply humane and with a noble sports spirit, healthy competition for national pride.

The 10th Phuc Tho District Sports Congress in 2022 aims to continue responding to the implementation of the campaign “All people do exercise following the great Uncle Ho” for health improvement and comprehensive training. The organization of the Congress aims to gather the best athletes to participate in the competition, set many records for the Congress, improve the organization and administration level of the management staff, professional and technical staff, and referees to prepare the host force to well organize international sports tournaments; based on the results of the congress to evaluate the development plan of the sport career of localities and units in the district in the period 2017-2022 as a premise to build a plan to develop the sport career in the period of 2022-2025 .
On this occasion, the Organizing Committee presented souvenir flags to the delegations participating in the congress; District People’s Committee rewarded 22 collectives and 20 individuals with good achievements in organizing grassroots Sports Congress in 2022.
