Increasing Entrance Fee for Some Historical Relics and Beauty Spots in the City

People’s Council of Hanoi City has just passed a Resolution increasing the entrance fee for the Temple of Literature, Ngoc Son Temple, Hoa Lo Prison, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Co Loa Citadel, and Huong Son landscape (Huong Pagoda).

On the afternoon of December 06, delegates of the People’s Council of Hanoi City voted in favor of passing the Draft Resolution amending regulations on entrance fee for some beauty spots, historical relics, and cultural works in the City as specified in the Resolution No. 06/2020/NQ-HDND dated July 07, 2020. According to the new resolution, fee for visiting these places will be increased by at least VND 30,000/visit/place. The specific increase will be as follows:

– Temple of Literature: by VND 70,000/visit/person

– Ngoc Son Temple: by VND 50,000 VND/visit/person

– Hoa Lo Prison: VND 50,000 VND/visit/person

– Thang Long Imperial Citadel: by VND 100,000/visit/person

– Huong Son (Huong Pagoda): by VND 120,000 VND/visit/person (including VND 2,000 of tourist insurance).

Delegates of the People’s Council pressed the button to pass the Resolution

Fee will be exempted for people with extremely severe disabilities as prescribed in Clause 1, Article 11 of the Government’s Decree No. 28/2012/ND-CP dated April 10, 2012, and children according to the provisions of the Law on Children. 50% reduction will be applied to people with severe disabilities as stipulated in Clause 2, Article 11 of the Government’s Decree No. 28/2012/ND-CP dated April 10, 2012, the elderly in accordance with Article 2 of the Law on Elderly People, Vietnamese citizens from 60 years of age or older with supporting documents, students from 16 years of age or older, those who have privilege of cultural enjoyment, people with meritorious services to the revolution, and people subject to social policy.

 

Free-of-charge time: on cultural heritage day (November 23); Besides:

– Ngoc Son Temple is free on the Saint’s death anniversary on August 20 according to the lunar calendar, and the 1st day of every month according to the lunar calendar.

– Huong Pagoda is free on the 30th, 1st, 2nd on occasion of the Lunar New Year; and Buddha’s Birthday on April 15 according to the lunar calendar.

– Quan Thanh Temple, Tay Phuong Pagoda, Thay Pagoda, and Duong Lam ancient village are free on December 30 according to lunar calendar, and the 1st and 2nd on occasion of the Lunar New Year.

The promulgation of the Resolution aims to concretize the Central regulations on implementing collection, payment, management and use of entrance fee for beauty spots and historical relics in Hanoi City. In addition, it is essential to increase fee for the relics so as to enhance the operational efficiency in utilizing and promoting the values of relics, ensure funding for the management apparatus of relics in the near future, create a source of revenue to offset part or all of the costs of preservation, renovation, restoration and management of cultural works and museums and offset the costs of fee collection activities, ensure an autonomous roadmap for public non-business units in consistence with the real situation, reduce the State budget spent on activities held by public non-business unit, improve the unit’s autonomy, create motivation and accelerate the development of public product and service provision, and better satisfy the demands of people.
