On the evening of May 12, the opening ceremony of the 31st SEA Games officially took place at My Dinh Stadium with the meaningful message “For a stronger Southeast Asia.”

Attending the event, many international friends praised the organization of the opening ceremony as well as the 31st SEA Games in general by the host country-Vietnam.

Deputy General Director of Cambodia News Agency, Mr. Yuthkun Hun shared: “This is my third visit to Vietnam. This time, we came at the invitation of the Vietnam News Agency to learn about the organization of the 31st SEA Games. I find Vietnamese friends very hospitable. In particular, the culture and life of Vietnam and Cambodia are very close.”

Mr. Yuthkun emphasized: “Today, I was especially impressed with the opening ceremony. Over the past few days, Vietnam has also organized the 31st SEA Games very well, especially in arranging accommodation, as well as organizing competitions in a scientific way.

Meanwhile, working on the opening ceremony, sports reporter from Thailand Ratchannipong Vorasarin was also impressed with the organization of the 31st SEA Games from the early days to the official opening ceremony.

Mr. Ratchannipong Vorasarin said: “This is my second visit to Vietnam. I was very impressed with the vibrant sports atmosphere in the arenas. The day before, I went to Thien Truong Stadium to witness the match without the presence of the Vietnamese team. However, the stadium was packed with no space left and I was really impressed by the rare passionate atmosphere. And at the opening ceremony of the 31st SEA Games, just with a business card, all international friends and I are welcomed and are helped to have the best possible working conditions.”

Before the opening ceremony of the 31st SEA Games, in the waiting room, athletes from countries in Southeast Asia also expressed satisfaction with the organization. International friends presented at My Dinh stadium were satisfied with the friendliness and hospitality of Vietnamese people.

Athlete Imbrolia De Araujo Dos Reis Amorin (Taekwondo), who held the flag of Timor Leste during the opening ceremony of the 31st SEA Games shared: “I attended the SEA Games before in the Philippines, but things are different in Vietnam. Before coming to Vietnam, I thought I would have communication problems because Vietnamese people don’t speak much English. However, when I came here, I realized that your kindness is the best language.”

The opening ceremony of the 31st SEA Games took place tonight, May 12th in a grand and majestic atmosphere with a meaningful message: “Come with us, we will shine together and show the power of solidarity, prudence and peace-loving attitude, maintaining political stability in Southeast Asia.”

Not only international friends, thousands of fans presenting at My Dinh Stadium also shared the same overwhelming feeling and pride in the organization of the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Linh (62-year-old) from Hanoi said: “We have just gone through a very difficult time due to the epidemic. The opening ceremony of the 31st SEA Games will mark a new normal period. I especially expect that we will win as many medals as possible. I am very proud to be Vietnamese when the SEA Games are held in Hanoi again. I believe the Games will be very successful and make international friends happy.”
