Lord Hoang Trinh Thanh (1411 – 1463) maturity name Truc Khanh, the title of Truc Khue, from Da Si village, Thuong Thanh Oai village, Thanh Oai authority, Ha Dong province (present name Da Si village, Kien Hung Ward, Ha Dong district, Hanoi city). Lord Hoang Trinh Thanh (1411 – 1463) maturity name Truc Khanh, the title of Truc Khue, from Da Si village, Thuong Thanh Oai village, Thanh Oai authority, Ha Dong province (present name Da Si village, Kien Hung Ward, Ha Dong district, Hanoi city). He passed the ancient government consultancy examination and appointed a Region’s apprentice in 1431. He earned his keep as a lord for 36 years, serving 4 kings in the Le linage: Le Thai To, Le Thai Tong, Le Nhan Tong and Le Thanh Tong, he held many lordships such as Head of the Region’s apprentices, Chief of the Secret Council., King’s personal reader, Scholar of the Academy and many other lordships. He joined the conquest of the West two times, he was the ambassador to the Ming dynasty in 1443 and 1459.

In 1462, King Le Thanh Tong asked for his advisor on building a sustainable kingdom. The Lord offered him a proposal of 7 points to the nobles, with the desire to make Vietnam a great country, which includes: 1. Balancing between Yin and Yang to make the land flourish; 2. Opening the Academy to honour education; 3. Choosing a son to retain the head of the country; 4. Conservation for costs; 5. Thoroughly reviewing policies to ease the people; 6. Train to strengthen the army; 7. Storing food supplies for the borders.

The above proposals were refined from years of experience in lordships of a talented and big-hearted notability, constantly struggle to seek the stability for the nation and the people, approved by the Imperial government and specified in the Hong Duc Law. This was considered a success and a huge contribution of lord Hoang Trinh Thanh’s career.

With 13 ideas of multiple scientists, delegates from multiple research centers such as the Institute of History, Han-Nom Research Institute (belonging to Vietnam’s Academy of Social Science), the Ho Chi Minh National Institution of Politics, Hanoi National University, Hanoi University of Education, the Preservation of Vietnamese Heritage Funds and Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities in the Temple of Literature – Imperial Academy and the Hoang linage in Da Si village, Kien Hung Ward, Ha Dong district, Hanoi presented at the scientific seminar “Lord Hoang Trinh Thanh and his policies to make Vietnam a great country” clarified his desire to make the nation great and with the development trend of today, at the seminar, scientists discussed the following contents: The background of Dai Viet in the 15th century and the career of Hoang Trinh Thanh; the benefit and application of the 7 proposals to make the nation great in the current situation.

The seminar “Lord Hoang Trinh Thanh and his policies to make Vietnam a great country” has honoured talents and spirits of lord Hoang Trinh Thanh, especially stressed his important contribution to the descendants.
