“In April, madonna lily looks delicate and fragile/street corners and familiar roads,..”. Together with the peach flower, daisy,… Hanoians often name the madonna lily as one of the characteristic flower species which helps add colour to the beauty of “Ha Noi with 12 flower seasons””.
The reason that the madonna lily is called April’s flower, as it only appears and completely blossoms in the month of April, and if those who fails to quickly buy a bunch of this flowers for decoration will be certainly regretful. In april, the old streets in Ha Noi seem to become more romantic by the adularescent colour of madonna lily alternated with the pinkly red, yellow and purple maguerites loaded on the flowers vehicles travelling along the lines of old trees.
It is unknown since when I have fallen in love with this type of flower. Whenever having a chance to walk past the flower shop in early mornings, looking at bundles of softly adularescent madonna lily, which prompt me to have the feelings that a new day is coming with uneasy and refreshing moods. Likely, I am always impressed with Ms. Lylia’s pure and faithful love in the legend of a flower species as made up by people that with a strong confidence, she always keeps in mind her boyfriend’s heart and waits until he comes back?. Though not exquisite as velvety rose, not ardent as lily, not colourful as yellow winter marguerite, the language of madonna lily bears the significance of pureness, brightness and gentleness. It is such a thing that suffices me to find out that the type of April flower has a wonderful magnetism.
Madonna lily looks gentle and simple beside other flowers
This type of flower is aslo called otherwise the western lily (as illustrated in the painting titled “The girl by lily” produced by To Ngoc Van painter), or lily, but it is popularly named as madonna lily. The season that madonna lily most blossoms is from the mid to end of April. For flower growers, this is the busiest time for them as they have to stay up late and get up early to pick up, bundle flowers and then bring them for sale at the night bazzar. For many families, having a bunch of madonna lily in their home, they will be able to enjoy the airing of subtle scent around the room for a whole week.
