To celebrate the 68th anniversary of the Capital’s liberation day (October 10, 1954 – October 10, 2022), the Center of Culture, Information and Sports of Son Tay in collaboration with the Vovinam Federation of Hanoi city has organized the Vovinam tournament in 2 day 8 – 9 October 2022 at the town gymnasium. This is one of the competition subjects of the 10th Son Tay Town Sports Festival in 2022.
There were nearly 200 athletes from 32 units, including 5 units of communes, wards and 27 units of schools, attending the tournament. Athletes competed in 2 events of showing martial art posts, combat for 3 age groups in many weight classes from under 23 kg to under 57 kg.
At the end of the tournament, the Organizing Committee awarded the first prize to the delegations of Trung Son Tram Primary School, Son Tay Secondary School and Thanh My Commune, the second prize to Quang Trung Primary School, Phung Hung Secondary School and Trung Son Tram ward; 3rd prize to the Tran Phu Primary School, Son Loc Primary School, Thanh My Secondary School, Trung Son Tram Secondary School and Xuan Khanh Ward, and awarded first, second and third prizes in each competition content.
The tournament was organized to create conditions for athletes to have the opportunity to exchange and learn experiences to improve their skills, thereby discovering and training the core athletes of Son Tay town to participate in the major tournaments. The tournament also promoted the movement of body training following the great Uncle Ho’s role model, regularly practicing and competing in sports, especially in Vovinam – Viet Vo Dao (a martial art created by Vietnamese people).
