After 5 years under way, The spring script-writing festival at Van Mieu has been gradually becoming a good cultural practice, a reliable venue for visitors and especially Ha Noi folks whenever Tet and the spring season come. “Give and ask for scripts” in early spring time is human’s traditional culture wishing for a new year of all satisfactions, at the same time, helps conserve and enhance the cultural values of Viet Nam’calligraphy.
With a view to promoting thế values, on the 1st February morning, at Vawn Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam, Ha Noi Department of Culture and Sports collaborated with the Centre for Cultural and Scientific Activities of Van Mieu – Quoc Tu giam, with the Liason Committee of Ha Noi Calligraphy Clubs held a press conference on the Festival’s plan. Along that, the script-writing festival will be opened on the 9th February, 2018.

Apart from its main activity of “Ask and give scripts”, visitors come to the festival will be able to experience and inquire into the process of Do paper – making and 3 types of folk painting as Hang Trong, Dong Ho and Kim Hoang; visit the traditional craft villages’ booths which make worm silk, lacquer wares, mother of pearl inlayings, art bamboo knitting, bonsai trees and flowers,.. learn how to wrap Tet’s sticky rice cake, and sample some of the traditional foods of Viet Nam.

To meet the demand of “Give and ask for scripts” in early spring, the spring script – writing festival 2018 will be held at Van lake area of Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam – Ha Noi from 9-25 February. Specifically, the festival will be from 08 am till 20.00 pm on daily basis. Only on new year’s eve, it will operate until 2.00 am of the next day. On the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of Tet, it will last until 22.00 pm..
