Organizing the Cultural and Tourism Week of Dien Bien in Hanoi

In a bid to bolster promotional efforts and showcase the National Tourism Program – Dien Bien 2024, the Cultural and Tourism Week of Dien Bien in Hanoi 2023 is set to take place from December 15 to December 17, 2023, at Hoan Kiem Pedestrian Street, Hanoi. This event is collaboratively organized by the People’s Committee of Dien Bien Province and the People’s Committee of Hanoi City, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Victory of Dien Bien Phu and the 51st anniversary of the “Hanoi-Dien Bien Phu in the Air” victory.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for 8:00 PM on December 15 at the Ba Kieu Temple area, featuring a cultural program, ribbon-cutting, and participation in cultural spaces and community activities, along with an exhibition.

Cultural introduction activities will include remarkable elements such as music and dance programs, the presentation and promotion of the beauty of the Dien Bien heroic land and its people. There will be an introduction to the cultural space of the highlands through the reenactment of the traditional architecture of the Thai, Mong, and Ha Nhi ethnic groups, community activities, production labor, traditional handicrafts demonstration (weaving, musical instrument crafting, art of wax painting, etc.). Cultural and artistic activities, folk performances, traditional music, and dance will also be organized. The event will design and install banners showcasing images of prominent tourist destinations, miniature landscapes, and photo check-in spots introducing Dien Bien. The reenactment of the Thai ethnic group’s “May Prayer” space and an exhibition of photos themed “From Dien Bien Phu in 1954 to Hanoi-Dien Bien Phu in the Air in 1972” will also take place.

Additionally, a street parade will feature various activities, including a parade showcasing the traditional cultural colors of the ethnic communities in Dien Bien Province, such as folk songs, dances, music, and community activities like “sap” dancing and “xoa” dancing. The exhibition “Dien Bien – Colors of Culture” will present images of residential landscapes, agricultural activities, daily life, festivals, and traditional games of the ethnic groups in Dien Bien Province. There will also be an introduction to the list of historical and cultural relics and the list of national intangible cultural heritage.

On December 16 at 2:00 PM, the Promotion and Tourism Conference for Dien Bien Province will take place at Hoa Binh Hotel, 27 Ly Thuong Kiet, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi. The event aims to introduce and promote the tourism potential and distinctive products of Dien Bien Province, highlighting new tourist destinations, investment-attracting mechanisms, policies, and priority projects. Discussions will center around strategies to enhance tourism promotion, and the creation of unique tourism products to attract domestic and international tourists to Dien Bien Province.

The Cultural and Tourism Week of Dien Bien is organized to showcase and affirm the achievements of cooperation between Dien Bien Province and Hanoi City across various sectors. This event contributes to strengthening cultural exchange, fostering partnerships, and promoting investment and development between the two regions. It embodies the cultural harmony and solidarity between the people of Dien Bien and Hanoi, providing the people of Dien Bien with a deeper understanding of the millennium-old capital. Continuing to fortify the positive relationship between the two regions, particularly in coordinating and supporting the organization of significant activities and events of Dien Bien Province and Hanoi City. The aim is to promote and introduce the beauty of Dien Bien’s landscapes and its heroic people, emphasizing the distinctive cultural features and tourism potential of Dien Bien Province. The goal is to enhance collaborative relations in exploring potential advantages for economic and social development, preserving and promoting the cultural diversity of ethnic groups to effectively serve tourism development. This presents an opportunity for tourism businesses to engage in accessible exchanges, collaborations, and partnerships with entities in Hanoi City, boosting business opportunities, fostering exchange, and developing key tourist markets and potentials.
