At the finals of the 2023 Thach That District Marathon Championship, the Organizing Committee successfully curated a roster of over 300 athletes representing 55 units, competing across four categories: Young Women (1.7 km), Young Men (2.6 km), Women (2.6 km), and Men (3.4 km).

On the morning of September 24, the People’s Committee of Thach That District organized the Finals of the 2023 Thach That District Marathon Championship.

Leaders of Thach That district presented souvenir flags to units participating in the Championship.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Dang Dinh Manh, Director of the Center for Culture, Information, and Sports of Thach That District, highlighted the event’s growth over the years. Aligned with the nationwide campaign “Whole Population Exercises according to the Great Uncle Ho,” the “Health for Nation Building and Defense” movement, and various other sports initiatives, the Thach That District Marathon Championship has garnered attention and encouragement from city leaders, district authorities, and the coordinated efforts of various sectors, localities, and individuals. Consequently, the championship has expanded both in scale and participant numbers, significantly amplifying its influence within the district’s sports and physical fitness movement.

Intense competition among athletes

The district-level competition has been a stepping stone for many athletes who have excelled and achieved notable records in national and international track and field events. Standout examples include athlete Nguyen Van Hung from Thach Xa commune, who set records at the Sea Games and secured a gold medal at the 28th Sea Games; athlete Nguyen Thi Thuy from Canh Nau commune, earning a gold medal at the 30th Sea Games; and athlete Hoang Thi Minh Hanh from Tien Xuan commune, achieving a gold medal at the 32nd Sea Games and the Asian Championship in Japan. The achievements of these athletes have significantly contributed to elevating the national sports scene and driving the development of track and field in Thach That District.

At the Finals of the 2023 Thach That District Marathon Championship, the Organizing Committee meticulously selected over 300 athletes from 55 units, engaging in four categories: Young Women (1.7 km), Young Men (2.6 km); Women (2.6 km), and Men (3.4 km).

The Organizing Committee presented awards to units and athletes with outstanding performances.

Following a morning of spirited competition, the 2023 Thach That District Marathon Championship concluded successfully. Based on the results, the Organizing Committee awarded the first prize to individuals in each category: Young Women – Athlete Dinh Thi Trang from Yen Binh Secondary School; Young Men – Athlete Nguyen Viet Anh from Yen Binh Secondary School; Women – Athlete Nguyen Thi Khanh Huyen from Bac Luong Son High School; Men – Athlete Le Trung Duc from Tan Xa Commune. The Organizing Committee also presented the Overall First Prize for each category to Yen Binh Secondary School, Tan Xa Commune, Thach Hoa Commune, and Bac Luong Son High School.

The finals of Thach That District Marathon Championship, organized by Thach That District, serves as a platform to scout talented athletes to augment the district’s team for the 48th Hanoinoi Newspaper Running Tournament – for Peace in Hanoi, scheduled for the morning of September 30, 2023.
