The Midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai has just been selected by the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) as the face of Vietnamese football in the campaign called “#ReachOut” of FIFA. “#ReachOut” is a mental health awareness campaign jointly launched by FIFA and ASEAN.

Hanoi FC player Nguyen Quang Hai is the face of Vietnamese football in FIFA’s “#ReachOut” campaign.

This is a very humane campaign, encouraging people to seek help when needed and remove barriers of stigma. In the context of the complicated development of the Covid-19 pandemic, which will affect the health and the spirit of many people. That’s why FIFA created the “#ReachOut” campaign to reinforce good habits which help people stay healthy.

The Midfielder Quang Hai – the only Vietnamese football star chosen by FIFA as an ambassador for the “#ReachOut” campaign. Along with the player who is wearing Hanoi FC, there are other famous stars of Southeast Asian football such as Chanathip Songkrasin (Thailand), Vochiengkham (Laos), Neil Etheridge (Philippines) or Safawi Rasid (Malaysia). All will be able to share their thoughts, give advice and this is the message sent to the fans of the selected players, recorded by FIFA to convey the message of mental health protection to the community. The official video will be announced by FIFA in the next few days.

Besides Quang Hai, there are other famous stars of Southeast Asian football.

“Taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health. A good listening ear can make a huge difference to people who are struggling. FIFA is proud to launch this campaign, supported by the World Health Organization and ASEAN to encourage people to #ReachOut.” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

Meanwhile, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organization said: “As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, it is as important as ever to look after our mental and physical health. WHO is delighted to support the #ReachOut campaign, spearheaded by FIFA to encourage people to talk about their mental health”.
