Speaking at the opening of the discussion, Deputy Chairman of People’s Committee of Quoc Oai District, Mr. Hoang Nguyen Ung emphasized: Family is the cell of society, the nurturing cradle, the environment for the formation and education of human personality. Building a prosperous, equal, progressive and happy family is not only the right and responsibility of the members of each family but also the responsibility of the Authorities of all levels, of all sectors of profession and social organizations in the cause of national construction and protection in the new period. During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh had said: “Many families add up to form a society. If the family is good, the society will be good. The better the society, the better the family. The nucleus of society is the family”. Immersed in his teachings, on May 4, 2001, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 72, which designated June 28th as Vietnamese Family Day.
Deputy Chairman of People’s Committee, Mr. Hoang Nguyen Ung believed that the discussion on the subject “Modern family and the skills to keep family happy” to help the cadres team who take care of family issues in the district come up with many solutions, good method to helping each family become an important and solid link in building a happy society.
The delegates attending the discussion had heard Dr. Tran Thi Thu Hien – Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Gender and Development, Vietnam Women’s Academy introduce the topic “Modern family and skills to keep family happy” with the following contents: upholding the role of women in maintaining family happiness, life and work skills; issues related to behavior between husband and wife, children and parenting, career choice for children… At the same time, families also need to pay attention to criteria of education, medical and health care for family members; responsibility of family members in creating solid development in the house; how to reconcile relationships in multi-generational families (especially the family of the four generations); the role of the traditional family in the modern era; common denominator for keeping the family happy; preserving core values of the family, building and replicating happy family models…
According to Dr. Tran Thi Thu Hien: Building happiness is the goal of every family. To preserve family happiness, everyone must realize that family is very important, only then can they cherish and preserve it. If people understand the importance of marriage, then surely in their married life, even if there are differences and disagreements, they will still find a way to overcome it…

The organization of the discussion “Modern family and skills to maintain happiness” would contribute to raising awareness and upholding the responsibilities of the Authorities of all levels, of all sectors of profession and social organizations and each person in the district to build a happy and solid family.
