Thuong Tin district’s library is located on the second floor of the district’s Center for Culture, Information and Sports. The library covers an area of more than 200m2, with spacious facilities. For the comfort of readers, the Library has arranged many spacious and airy reading spaces with lighting and air conditioning systems. The Library is open from 8 am to 12 am and 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Coming to the library of Thuong Tin district, readers can access to a rich source of documents. Currently, the district library is keeping more than 8,000 copies of 19 subjects to meet the diverse needs of many readers, with 9 kinds of newspapers and magazines. With the abundance of resources, over the years, the Library has provided much useful information for all classes of people in the area, especially the young generation. Not only reading books on the spot, if the need arises, but readers can also borrow books to home.

To maintain the reading habits among the people, every year, the library of Thuong Tin district has organized seminars on the development of reading culture and organized book donation by collectives and individuals. This is a meaningful activity because it not only contributes to raising people’s awareness of the importance of reading books, newspapers and documents but also is the connection between book owners and those who have reading needs. Each book was awarded as having access to more people, extracting information from the book. Richer sources of books also mean better meeting the needs of readers. Along with that, the Library also organized exhibitions, displayed and introduced books on themes on holidays, anniversaries of the country, the capital. Coordinated with the Department of Education and Training to successfully organize the Children’s Contest to propagate and introduce summer books; organize book festival and reading culture… Coordinated with Hanoi Library to make the good circulation of books and newspapers to grassroots bookcases. In March 2020, the district library cooperated with the Hanoi Library to rotate 1,200 books on six basic bookcases including Bookcases in Binh Vong village, Van Hoi village, Van Binh commune; bookcases in Van La – Hong Van village, bookcases in Loc Du village, Nguyen Trai commune; bookcases in Tran Phu village and Dong Chanh village, Minh Cuong commune. Books circulating down the grassroots bookcase are practical documents in many fields such as Law, politics, literature, children, suitable to the needs of the local people. The bookcase book rotation activities have created a diverse source of materials for the primary bookcases; directly bring books to people, improve the efficiency of books and articles, meet the needs of information, learning and entertainment for people; at the same time arouse and spread the reading culture in the community.

Facing the strong development of the mass media, the library of Thuong Tin district is still making efforts to nurture and maintain the habit of reading books among all strata of the people. With many close readers, the Library has become a reliable place in the daily spiritual and cultural life.
