After 3 years under construction, the project of Garbage and waste Treatment and Processing Plant of Phuong Dinh (Dan Phuong) has been officially put into operation, which on the one hand has addressed the challenging issues on the need in-between for environmental protection and the economic benefits for both the immediate and longer run, as well as rapidly putting the environmental management into order. Other than that, the appearance of the Plant has helped improve the benchmarking quality in the building of a new rural life in Dan Phuong District.
With a view to further achieving its goals of environmental protection, recently Dan Phuong District has always attached its great importance to protection and improvement of the environment in a sustainable socio-economic manner. According to Mr. Nguyen Tat Thang, Head of the District Party Committee, by all ways and means, Dan Phuong District has stepped up its awareness-raising propaganda drive among all the public. The models for environmental protection have been also intensively and extensively deployed, thus drawing active participations from various organizations, unions and localities. A number of propaganda cmpaigns launched to enhance awarenesses and sense of responsibilities in the protection of environment has taken effects, namely: “Entire people not to dispose garbage and wastes in public areas” in association with the family-building movement “ Three cleanlinesses” (clean house, clean kitchen and clean entrance), implementing the drive of “Entire People build a new rural life”, encouraging people to do a cleaning-up on the afternoon of every Friday, morning of every Saturday, setting up a network of environmental management apparatuses ranging from district level down to each village, town, commune and household residence compound.

Coupled with the above, many programmes and projects in respect of environmental protection such as rehabilitation and embankment of 54 ponds, growing trees in public areas, building public gardens and parks, cementing villages’ roads and hamlet entrances, locating a site for scrap gatherings have been under way in conjunction with the programme of shaping the new rural life. Anh one of the important solutions is to boost socialization in the protection of environment, in which all economic components are encouraged to join hands in garbage and waste collection and treatement as well as other environmental protection services in the area. Coming up from the said advocacy, the investment project to build a huge Garbage and waste Treatment and Processing Plant with a comprehensive and spacious facilities in terms of technology, green trees and landscapes at Phuong Dinh commune has been materialized, creating great excitements among the local community. The Plant is constructed on the area of over 4.7ha, with a total investment capital worth of more than 270 billion dongs owned by Shareholding Investment Company of Thanh Quang. In the 1st phase, the project will operate at a capacity of 300 tons/per day, accountable to treat all life waste disposed within Dan Phuong District, outskirts of Hoai duc, Phuc Tho, Quoc Oai and non-toxic industrial waste scrapped by craft villages, industrial complexes located in the whole city area. The plant’s operations will be conducted through a state-of-the-art Atomatic Control Centre (PLC). It can run stably and continuously, reaching 8.000 hrs/year while the costs of investment, management and operations remain acceptable. Particularly, its steam furnaces have been made in the way that can make the most of the heat energy out of the combustion chamber to be utilized for garbage drying in combination with turbine electricity generation. Expectedly, once the plant is in full operation, Thanh Quang Shareholding Investment Company will continue to propose for an expansion of the plant size and incorporate it in the power-generating system with a capacity of 4-5MWh, so as to make the full use of the suplus heat energy in the process of garbage burning to provide a considerable amount of electricity to the national power grid.
Investing in the construction of Phuong Dinh Garbage and waste Treatment and Processing Plant is a pressing matter, in comformity with the policy and orientation advanced by the Government and Ha Noi People’s Committee in dealing with the issue of environmental pollution. To put the plant into commission will not only contribute to the improvement of urban sanitation of Ha Noi, but also raise the benchmarking quality in the building of a new rural life of Dan Phuong District.
