Special activities to celebrate New Year’s 2018 at Vietnam National Villages for Ethnic Culture and Tourism

A series of special activities celebrating the New Year’s 2018 with the theme “Delicacies of the regions” takes place from December 1, 2017 to January 1, 2018 at Vietnam National Villages for Ethnic Culture and Tourism (Dong Mo, Son Tay, Hanoi). A series of special activities celebrating the New Year’s 2018 with the theme “Delicacies of the regions” takes place from December 1, 2017 to January 1, 2018 at Vietnam National Villages for Ethnic Culture and Tourism (Dong Mo, Son Tay, Hanoi).
Nearly 160 people of 13 ethnic groups (Tay, Nung, La Chi, Dao, Mong, Thai, Muong, Kho Mu, Ta Oi, Co Tu, Raglai, Ede, Khmer) come from 11 localities nationwide introducing the traditional cultural characteristics of the “Common Home” of the 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam.

In particular, the highlighted activity called “New Year highland market”  will introduce cultural space in highland market welcoming the new year imbued with patterns of culture from the ethnic groups of Dien Bien, Son La, Ha Giang, Cao Bang; typical local products such as brocade, wine, bamboo shoots, etc.; traditional handicrafts such as weaving, brocade weaving, musical instruments making, wine brewery, etc.; ethnic cuisine such as thang co, men men, seven-color sticky rice, H’mong bourbon; folk activities, folk dance and folk games of ethnic minority people; displaying, introducing photos of the landscape, life and people in the highland with the theme “Identities of the highlands”.

There will be outstanding arts performance such as: “Distinguished Home” program staged by Vietnam Tuong Theater; “Happy New Year” puppet show performed by Vietnam Puppet Theater; Circus program “Circus – Welcoming New Year” shown by Vietnam Circus.

Besides, there are daily and weekend activities, Homestay tour, experience, etc. introducing the culture, manners and customs of the compatriots, and experiential activities in the “Common Home” of the 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam, contributing to the exchange of ethnic groups, attracting tourists to the Vietnam National Villages for Ethnic Culture and Tourism.
