Special program: “Hanoi cuisine culture exchange with international friends”

In 2 days (June 16 – 17), at Ly Thai To Statue Flower Garden, the Department of Culture and Sports held the Program: “Hanoi cuisine culture exchange with international friends” to honor and  promote cuisine culture of Vietnam as well as of other countries, improve the exchange of cuisine culture between Hanoi, Vietnam and other..

In 2 days (June 16 – 17), at Ly Thai To Statue Flower Garden, the Department of Culture and Sports held the Program: “Hanoi cuisine culture exchange with international friends” to honor and  promote cuisine culture of Vietnam as well as of other countries, improve the exchange of cuisine culture between Hanoi, Vietnam and other countries, satisfy food demand of the city people and international friends living and working in Hanoi.

Attending the program’s opening ceremony were Mr. Ngo Van Quy, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee; Mr. Tran Quoc Chiem, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports; Mr. Truong Minh Tien, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports; Mr. Nguyen Nam Hai, Deputy Director of Department of Foreign Affairs and representatives of the Embassies of Thailand, Ukraine, Colombia, Laos, France, Germany, Italy, etc. in Vietnam.

Program “Hanoi cuisine culture exchange with international friends” was attended by ambassadors, representatives of embassies of some countries in Vietnam, foreign cultural centers, craft villages, organizations, individuals and some businesses operating in food industry in the city. There were 50 stalls from 18 countries, including 25 stalls introducing Hanoi cuisine with traditional dishes such as: Tra sen Ho Tay (West Lake Lotus tea), com Me Tri (Me Tri green rice flake), Nem Phung (Phung spring roll), Banh cuon Thanh Tri (Thanh Tri stuffed pancake), Bun oc Phu Dong (Phu Dong snail noodle soup), Banh day Quan Ganh (Quan Ganh sticky rice cake, etc. Other countries also introduced their own special dishes such as Korean Gimbap, tokbokki, Japanese sushi, Argentinian Empanada fried dumplings, Colombian fruits salad, Indonesian skewered meat, Peruvian quinoa salad, Italian spaghetti, German pizza, etc.

Within the framework of the program, many Hanoian and visitors also enjoyed cultural exchange activities, arts performance which introduce the traditional beauty, special cultural and artistic characteristics of Hanoi Capital and other countries, immersed in folk games such as Nhay sap (bamboo dancing), Ca kheo (walking on stilts), Nhay bao bo (bag jumping), Keo co (tug of war), Nhay day (Rope jumping), etc. creating an exciting, attractive cultural space which contributes to enhancing the understanding and friendship between Vietnamese people and international friends.
