On the evening of October 12, at the Hanoi Opera House, the Central Propaganda Department and the Steering Committee for Foreign Information Work chaired and coordinated with Vietnam News Agency and related agencies to organize the awarding of the 9th National Award for Foreign Information.

The National Award for Foreign Information is intended to recognize and honor outstanding authors, works, and products in the field of foreign information and contribute to promoting Vietnam’s development achievements in many fields.

At the 9th National Award for Foreign Information, the Organizing Committee received 1,456 works, products and projects submitted by participants, an increase of 30% compared to the previous award period. The number of works increased, focusing mainly on the following categories: Initiatives and products with foreign information value; Print newspapers, electronic newspapers, websites in foreign languages; TV items; images; video clips… Many works, products, and projects are invested meticulously and have high quality. The Organizing Committee select to award prizes to 110 works, products and works.

Participating in the Award, the Management Board of Hoa Lo Prison Relics won the First Prize with an initiative and product with foreign information value for the Program “Đêm thiêng liêng – Lửa Thanh xuân (Sacred Night – Fire of Youth)” and thematic exhibition “Khoảng lặng (Silence moment)” – appreciating the value of peace expressed by the author group (Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, Dao Thi Hue, Nguyen Thi Sam, La Bich Thuy, Nguyen Minh Tuan, Hoang Van Anh, Chu Ha Linh and Lai Thi Minh Thu).

Audience’s deep emotions when watching the scene in the program “Đêm thiêng liêng – Lửa Thanh xuân (Sacred Night – Fire of Youth)”

The program “Đêm thiêng liêng – Lửa Thanh xuân (Sacred Night – Fire of Youth)”, launched to  celebrate the 92nd anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 – March 26, 2023). The program is a tribute to the great contributions and sacrifices of young patriotic and revolutionary soldiers who were imprisoned by the French colonialists in Hoa Lo Prison. The soldiers sacrificed and contributed to their youth to Vietnam’s independence and freedom. These are the stories of comrade Dang Xuan Khu, called as Truong Chinh (General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam) who was imprisoned but still stubbornly fought; Comrade Dang Viet Chau (Deputy Prime Minister and General Director of the State Bank of Vietnam) participated in planning the hunger strike in 1933, demanding the rights of political prisoners; comrade Nguyen Duc Canh (Secretary of the Northern Party Committee) who vowed to sacrifice his life for the Fatherland, etc.

Thematic exhibition “Khoảng lặng (Silence moment)” – appreciating the value of peace attracted the attention of the Capital’s public

Thematic exhibition “Khoảng lặng (Silence moment)” – appreciating the value of peace, was held on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the victory “Hanoi – Dien Bien Phu in the air” (December 1972 – December 2022), 50 years of handover of American pilots imprisoned in northern prisons (1973 – 2023). The exhibition is presented through two contents: “Những ngày đỏ lửa (Fiercely fighting days)” and “Sau bức tường đá (Behind the stone wall)”, reminiscent of the silence moments after carpet bombing, fierce battles, and the losses and sacrifices that soldiers and people experienced for 12 days and nights of fighting at the end of 1972; the American pilots’ silent thoughts about the war they participated in and their feelings about Vietnamese life and people; and silence moments when after 50 years, American veterans returned to visit the old battlefields and stood behind the “Hilton – Hanoi” stone wall, etc.

The award is the recognition of the dedicated and responsible contributions of group of authors who are officers and employees of the Management Board of Hoa Lo Prison Relics, who have told touching stories about a heroic and fiery period of Vietnamese nation, contributing to spreading positive feelings and thoughts to all generations, especially the younger generation, to build a better society.
