On the morning of August 19, 2023, at the Nhi Khe Commune stadium, the People’s Committee of Thuong Tin District organized the opening ceremony of the Youth Football Tournament – Business Association Cup for the sixth time in 2023. The event was attended by Mr. Bui Cong Thanh, Member of the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee, Deputy Chairman of the District People’s Committee, and Mr. Le Tuan Dung, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thuong Tin District.

The Thuong Tin District Youth Football Tournament – Business Association Cup is an annual event held every two years. After being disrupted following the 2019 season due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s tournament is making a comeback, featuring the participation of 22 male football teams from 22 communes in the district. The teams are divided into 6 groups, and the competition format involves a round-robin to determine the outstanding teams for the next round.

In his opening speech, Mr. Bui Cong Thanh, Deputy Chairman of the Thuong Tin District People’s Committee, stated that, for the tournament to be successful, the Organizing Committee had meticulously prepared in terms of facilities, sports venues, healthcare, security, and service forces. He urged the referees to officiate the matches objectively and fairly, ensuring compliance with the tournament rules. Players were encouraged to participate with a sportsmanship spirit and high honesty, creating beauty in sports culture, and offering spectators many impressive and beautiful moments.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, a match took place between the football teams of Nhi Khe and Dung Tien communes, ending in a 0-0 draw. The matches will continue on weekends, extending from now until mid-October 2023, at the stadiums of Nhi Khe and Van Dien communes. The final match and award ceremony are scheduled to be held at the Phu Thuong Stadium (within the premises of the District Center for Culture, Information, and Sports).

The tournament contributes to promoting the nationwide movement for physical fitness, following the example of the great Uncle Ho, enhancing physical well-being, and cultivating a healthy cultural life at the grassroots level. It is also an activity to celebrate the 78th anniversary of the August Revolution, the Independence Day of September 2, and the 69th anniversary of the Liberation Day of Thuong Tin District (August 28), and the Liberation Day of the Capital (October 10).
