Recently, the District Women’s Union (WU) of Thuong Tin district has implemented many activities and movements, contributing to the implementation of socio-economic development tasks of the locality. In which, women’s unions at all levels have effectively built civilized and happy families, associated with the implementation of Directive 05-CT/TW of the Politburo, the campaign “Building the family of 5 Without–s and 3 Clean–s”, the movement “All people unite to build cultural life. By the end of 2020, the district has 92% of families of cadres and female members achieving “Family of 5 Without–s and 3 Clean–s” and “A civilized and happy family”.
The activities supporting building a civilized and happy family is identified by the district Women’s Union as a cross-cutting key task, helping women’s members affirm their roles and positions in their family and society. The district Women’s Union has focused on renovating the contents and measures to direct the grassroots to implement practically and effectively.

From the beginning of 2021 up to now, with their attention paid to healthcare for women, the Associations at all levels in the district have organized many practical activities such as the organization of 11 propaganda conferences on food safety, understandings about reproductive health and family planning, sex ratio imbalance at birth for 945 participants; jointly organize a discussion on solutions to lower the third–child birthrate, reduce the sex ratio imbalance at birth for women of childbearing age and propagate about reproductive healthcare – family planning etc. Therefore, a lot of useful knowledge is provided to help women better perform their maternity and the role of wife, and healthcare for themselves and family members. The District Women’s Union maintains 206/06 reliable addresses in the community, proactively detecting, preventing and coordinating in solving cases related to women and children.

Additionally, with the spirit of mutual love and affection of the nation and the role of women in the socio-economic development of the locality, humanitarian and charity activities are organized by the Women’s Union at all levels. They organized many meaningful activities such as giving gifts to poor women and children on the occasion of Vietnam Family Day (June 28) and the Vietnam Women’s Union Foundation and Vietnam Women’s Day (October 20). Especially, since the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, the Association at all levels has implemented many practical activities to help difficult families and members; support frontline forces in epidemic prevention and control; build a family into a solid “background” in epidemic prevention and control at the grassroots level… At all levels, the district Women’s Union has supported and mobilized more than 472 million VND; 600 cartons of milk and soft drinks of all kinds; 169 boxes of instant noodles; 01 box of soup powder; 2,217kg of vegetables, tubers and fruits of all kinds; 1,202kg of rice; 2560 eggs; 9000 medical masks; 221 anti-droplet caps etc. The district associations have visited and given gifts to frontline soldiers in epidemic prevention and control, thereby, helping Thuong Tin district to effectively implement the dual goals of epidemic prevention and control as well as socio-economic development.
At the same time, the Association always focuses on supporting women in sustainable economic development in order to help them improve their material and spiritual lives. Since then, women have had the opportunity to participate in movements and activities to build a strong association’s organization and assert their own role in social activities. In the fields of economy, labor, employment, authorities at all levels and the Committee for the Advancement of Women have coordinated with branches and district mass organizations to support vocational training and introduce jobs for more than 3,500 workers/year, in which female workers account for over 60% etc.
The practical activities of the Women’s Union of Thuong Tin district have contributed to the construction of the cultural life at the grassroots as well as the results of the implementation of the socio-economic development tasks of the locality, thereby, affirming the role of women’s unions in the new period.
