Over the course of two days, July 13 and 14, 2023, four inspection teams from the People’s Committee of Ung Hoa District conducted an examination of the “Ung Hoa Joint Effort to Build the New Countryside” competition, Phase 1, 2023, in various communes and towns within the district. The inspection criteria focused on four key areas: assessing the leadership efforts of the Party Committee and the People’s Committee in communes and towns, environmental protection, cleanliness of village roads and alleys, waste classification at households, rural landscape improvement to create a bright, green, clean, beautiful, safe, and civilized scenery, and the public’s participation.

The inspections revealed that the majority of communes and towns issued directive documents such as resolutions, plans, decisions, official dispatches, and guidance. Simultaneously, they organized conferences to extensively propagate and mobilize villages and neighborhoods to participate in the competition.

In practical terms, all main roads, alleys, and lanes boasted lighting systems that ensure both aesthetics and safety. Banners and national flags were strategically placed during festive and holiday periods to guarantee a pleasing visual experience. Village roads, alleys, and internal main roads were hardened, meeting the daily requirements of residents for both living and production.

The local residents actively participated in various meaningful activities, such as maintaining environmental hygiene by sweeping village roads and alleys every Saturday and Sunday, contributing money, goods, and labor to collectively build the New Countryside and enhance the overall quality of life in the area.

Despite these achievements, the inspection teams also highlighted some shortcomings. Notably, the timely replacement of numerous torn and old propaganda banners had not been addressed. There was a shortage of propaganda banners about the competition, and residual waste was still scattered on the sidewalks. Moreover, some areas witnessed the accumulation of construction materials and waste materials encroaching on sidewalks. In several villages and neighborhoods, efforts to care for flowering streets and create mural paintings on walls were limited and fell short of competition criteria.

In the coming time, the inspection teams recommend that the People’s Committees, departments, and mass organizations of communes and towns actively engage even more in the competition. Regular and diverse forms of communication should be implemented to enhance the awareness of officials, party members, and residents in preserving, protecting, honoring, and improving the quality of life for local residents. This collective effort aims to construct a bright, green, clean, beautiful, and civilized Ung Hoa District.

The inspection teams have scored and evaluated the communes and towns. According to the plan, the second inspection phase will be executed in November, followed by a summarization and award ceremony in December 2023.
