The COVID-19 pandemic with its fast-spreading variants has impacted all aspects of social life. The decline in income makes life difficult for many families. In that common context, with the spirit of solidarity and responsibility, officials and people of Van Khe commune, Me Linh district have promoted the spirit of solidarity, raised their awareness and sense of self-discipline to comply with regulations on pandemic prevention and control for the health and safety of themselves, their families and the community.

In order to meet the demand for vegetables and fruits for the inner city, especially the blocked areas, the isolated areas, under the direction of the commune leaders, the combination of volunteer clubs, The Women’s Union, the Youth Union of Van Khe commune had an initiative to mobilize people to support vegetables to donate to isolated areas in Gia Lam district, Hoang Mai district, North Thang Long industrial park and many other places, etc.

At first, also some people were afraid that local farmers would not give vegetables because it was the result of many months of care, and how much capital was invested. However, when deployed, the results were surprising; the people of Van Khe commune not only gave vegetables but also actively supported harvesting, preliminary processing, and transporting them to vehicles. On the masked faces, there was still a smile on the eyes. They are glad because those products will be a practical contribution to meals in isolation areas. At this time, helping our fellow citizens is much more meaningful than economic calculations. Van Khe farmers are inherently very respectful, very compassionate and sharing.

So far, from the support of the local people, the Women’s Union and the Youth Union of Van Khe commune have donated 34 tons of vegetables and fruits: morning glory, cabbage, sauerkraut, banana, papaya, etc. The transportation of vegetables is also volunteered by individuals in the area. Trucks of fresh vegetables and fruits, saving the efforts of farmers, filled with love and warm sharing during the pandemic are still being transported to isolation areas and blockaded areas in the inner city.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many disturbances in the lives and activities of the people of the capital. In the context of the pandemic still complicated, enriching the meaning of women and youth union members of Van Khe commune is like a bright spot to help each person become more confident, more united and confident in victory in the battle with the “enemy” of COVID-19.
