On October 7, at the Hanoi Library, the Department of Culture and Sports awarded the first “Hanoi’s Reading Culture Ambassador” contest with 10 groups and 20 individuals winning and submitting entries in the final round of the “Reading Culture Ambassador” contest nationwide.

 The Organizing Committee awarded the first prize individually and collectively.

The first contest “Hanoi’s Reading Culture Ambassador” organized by the Department of Culture and Sports in collaboration with the Department of Education and Training, is an opportunity for students to exchange and share experiences of reading and developing a reading culture; thereby encouraging and promoting the reading movement among the younger generation, forming reading habits and skills for students, contributing to the development of reading culture in schools and communities, and building a learning society.

Launched on April 19, 2021, after 3 months of launching, the contest has attracted 22,705 written entries and 417 videos from 293 elementary, middle and high schools in the city. The Organizing Committee has selected 10 collectives and 20 individuals to award and submit entries to the final round of the “Reading Culture Ambassador” contest nationwide. Two collective first prizes are: Department of Education and Training of Thanh Tri district and Hai Ba Trung district. Three individual first prizes belonged to students: Vu Thuy Hien, 11A5, Xuan Phuong High School, Nam Tu Liem district; Nguyen The Hieu, 7A5, Trung Hoa Secondary School, Cau Giay district; Hoang Gia Vinh, 5A1, Ai Mo B Primary School, Long Bien district.

Tran Van Ha, Director of the Hanoi Library, said that many of the entries were rich in content and form, demonstrating their understanding, passion for reading, and giving messages calling for the community to read the book, has moved and spread to the reader. In particular, there are entries in Braille by people with disabilities. The content of the articles shows a good sense of the book, the idea of ​​writing the story in the book is quite rich, the language and style are suitable for the age of students.

Vu Thuy Hien, a student of class 11A5, Xuan Phuong High School, Nam Tu Liem District shared, is a book lover and also the chairman of the Book Club of Xuan Phuong High School, which is supported and facilitated at school, Hien participated in the contest “Reading Culture Ambassador” with her feelings about the work “Nhật ký trong tù”. “The contest has brought a lot of meaning to us, helping students approach and form reading habits. Through the contest, I am also very happy to have contributed my small part in spreading the love of reading to everyone, especially to students in the era when technology is dominating today”.

Through the contests, the students showed their love of books through interesting sharing about their favorite books, composition stories, poems, creative ideas into the characters combining images, paintings, video illustrations to make the works more vivid and attractive.

The 1st “Hanoi’s Reading Culture Ambassador” contest in 2021 is a useful and meaningful playground, creating a great spread, arousing a passion for reading among young people, contributing to the development of the reading culture movement in the community, especially for the younger generation, forming reading habits and skills for students and once again affirming the position, role and importance of reading culture in the community.
