The history of nation-building and defense of the Vietnamese nation is always associated with the shape of the woman. The noble sacrifice, the constant heart to the homeland and family, the brave spirit of “The enemy comes to the house, the women also fight” have made the beauty of Vietnamese women like flowers blooming in the middle of the storm.

On the way of struggle, despite being hunted, brutally tortured, severely imprisoned in colonial and imperial prisons such as Hoa Lo, Con Dao, Kham Lon, Chi Hoa, etc., the female soldiers always keep an optimistic spirit, “steel” will, bravely face the imminent death.

Continuing the tradition of “Hero, indomitable, loyal, and courageous”, Vietnamese women have been contributing efforts and wisdom to the cause of national construction and development.

The painting of Vietnamese heroic mother Nguyen Thi Thu drawn from the names of 500 patriotic and revolutionary female warriors is one of the highlights of the exhibition.

The exhibition space “SẮT – SON” is shown through two main colors namely gray – red, corresponding to two parts of content Sắt and Son. Sắt is the story “Flowers in the Fire Prison” introducing the example of 9 typical female patriotic and revolutionary soldiers in the harsh prison situation including Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Nguyen Thi Quang Thai, Vo Thi Sau, and Le Thi Rieng, Nguyen Thi Dinh, Vo Thi Thang, Tran Thi Ly, Nguyen Thi Binh. With tenacious endurance and steadfast will, these women overcame all harsh conditions in prison or bravely faced the enemy on fierce battlefields.

Sắt is also a story about “Golden heart, iron liver”, about mothers, older sisters, gentle and small sisters, who have immersed themselves in the cause of national liberation struggle. When the country was in danger, the sisters enthusiastically participated in fighting the enemy with “don ganh danh can” in the North, “tam vong diet giac” in the South… Teams of female guerrilla, local self-defense, and young women around the fierce fighting in the fierce battlefield or the female soldiers who fought silently at the enemy’s headquarters have contributed to the nation’s illustrious victory in the two resistance wars against the French and the US.
