As a result, by winning 205 gold medals after the end of the 31st SEA Games, the Vietnamese sports delegation broke the “record” of 194 gold medals won by the Indonesian delegation at the 19th SEA Games held in 1997. This was also a historical milestone for Vietnamese sports since they began competing in the “arena” of Southeast Asia.

The gold medal after successfully defending the SEA Games men’s football championship of the Vietnamese U23 team was also the last gold medal won by the Vietnamese delegation at this SEA Games.

At the end of the 31st SEA Games, the Vietnamese Sport Delegation won first place for the whole team with a total of 446 medals, including 205 gold medals, 125 silver medals, and 116 bronze medals.

Notably, with 205 gold medals at the 31st SEA Games, Vietnamese sports set a new historical milestone for the Southeast Asian Games by surpassing Indonesia with 194 gold medals at the 19th SEA Games in Jakarta in 1997.
One of the outstanding highlights of Vietnamese sports was the victory of grass-court football.
The two defending champions, the national U23 team and the national women’s team, successfully defended the SEA Games football championship. In particular, the Vietnamese women’s team won three consecutive games (2017, 2019, and 2021).

Along with that, athletes competing in Olympic and ASIDAD sports (athletics, swimming, many martial arts, fencing, etc.) also achieved high results.

With this new historical milestone, Vietnam Sports promises further development in the future./.
