In the Swordsmansip (Jianshu) and Shangjutsu (Qiangshu) events, Duong Thuy Vi won the score of 9,527 and 9,513, respectively, with a total score of 19.04 and won the gold medal. Following in turn were two rivals Cai Winnie (Canada, 18.34) and Seo Hee-ju (South Korea, 18.32).
This is a very precious gold medal, marking 19 years after the achievement of athlete Nguyen Thuy Hien. Duong Thuy Vi put her hand on her left chest, sang the national anthem, when Vietnamese national flag was pulled to the highest position in the medal ceremony in the US, making fans emotional and proud.
On the first day of competition, athlete Pham Quoc Khanh competed in two events of Nan Quan and Nam Con, only ranked fourth with a total score of 18,947. In this event, Liu Zhong-xin (China) had an outstanding performance and won the gold medal.
World Games 2022 has 30 sports with a total of 206 events. The Vietnamese sports delegation attended with 4 athletes including Duong Thuy Vi, Pham Quoc Khanh, Hoang Thi Phuong Giang (wushu), Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat (muay) and Tran Quyet Chien (Billiard).
