Born and grown up in a confucian scholar family in the suburbs of Nam Dinh city of Thien Truong old prefecture, where Tran reign rose up originally with the famous spirit of Dong A in history, Mr. Le Duc Tho himself bore the patriotism and national indomitable tradition. Over the past 60 years of participating in untiring, arduous but glorious revolutionary cause, he had assumed key positions in the Party and had had the contributions of particular importance to the Vietnamese revolution. He had been awarded by the Party and State the Order of Golden Star and many other noble rewards. On the occasion of the 110th Anniversay of his birthday (10/10/1911-10/10/2021), Ha Noi Library introduces to readership the books on him. The book “Le Duc Tho-the steadfast communist, imminent leader” comprises of nearly 100 articles in the form of memoirs excerpted from high ranking leaders of the Party and State through stages, from his comrades in arm, and from colleagues who had time to live and work with him to recall good images of him in their memories.

In the history of diplomacy of our people, never had any negotiations last as long as it was at Paris Conference from 15 March, 1968 to 27 January, 1973, totalling 4 years, 8 months, 14 days, and with 202 plenary sessions and 24 separate ones. Eventually, our people’ struggle on the tabling negotiation had won victory. In a nutshell, “Justice wins over injustice! Indomitability wins over ruthlessness! The reaching of such an agreement was a major victory of the Vietnamese people” – as stated by special advisor Le Duc Tho at the important press conference on 24 January 1973 in Paris, the Capital of France.

The book titled “The negoations between Le Duc Tho and Kissinger in Paris” is a reconfirmation that Paris conference on Viet Nam was the outcome of an enduring, undaunted struggle conducted by our people from both two country’s regions, that had created a new turning point in the anti-American war to save the country. The victory of Paris conference was attibutable to the determination to gain victory, indomitableness to fight for the truth, independence and freedom of the entire Vietnamese people. The fight reflected fully the competent leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and President Ho Chi Minh, that was the intellectuality of Viet Nam’ diplomacy, basing on the justice of the national liberation struggle. Paris conference and Paris Agreement will go down in history of Viet Nam’s revolution forever in general and Viet Nam’s diplomacy in particular in the era of Ho Chi Minh as never fading landmark.
Both books are available at the reading room and lending room at Ha Noi Library.
