The goal of organizing The First Festival of Traditional Costume Performances of Vietnam’s Ethnic Minorities in Northern region in 2022 is to: concretize the Party’s guidelines and lines, policies, and laws on the conservation and promotion of ethnic minority cultures; honor the fine traditional cultural values of the ethnic groups in the North in the diverse and unified culture of Vietnam’s community of 54 ethnic groups; Encourage aspiration and national pride, as well as positivism, self-reliance, and self-reliance among ethnic minorities; Create conditions for artisans, artists and mass actors in ethnic minority areas to have cultural exchanges, study and exchange experiences in the work of preserving and promoting traditional cultures of ethnic minorities in order to tighten solidarity and cohesion among ethnic groups, to build and develop a healthy and progressive cultural life..

This is also an opportunity to introduce and promote the values of traditional costumes and culture of Vietnam’s ethnic minorities to domestic and international friends, contributing to the development of tourism.

The First Festival of Traditional Costume Performances of Vietnam’s Ethnic Minorities in Northern region will be held in 2022, with the subject “Colors of Traditional Costumes of Ethnic Minorities in the Northern Region in the Period of Integration and Development.” 17 provinces and cities will take part in the festival, including Hanoi, Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho, Hoa Binh, Son La, Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen, and Quang Ninh. Each delegation consists of 30-40 persons, including artisans and ethnic performers who live, study, and work in the northern regions and cities.

Within the framework of the Festival, there will be many special activities such as: Meeting with craftsmen and individuals who have made great contributions to the conservation and promotion of the culture of ethnic minorities in the North; a Scientific conference “Solutions to preserve and promote traditional costumes of Vietnamese ethnic groups in the current period”; Demonstration of traditional costumes of ethnic groups; Exhibition space to introduce typical cultural products and Embroidery and hand-woven demonstration of traditional costumes of Vietnam’s ethnic minorities in the North; Exhibition of traditional costumes of Vietnam’s ethnic minorities in the North; Displaying and exhibiting photos of ethnic minorities’ costumes in the North; Re-enactment of the market space in the Northern mountainous area.

The First Festival of Traditional Costume Performances of Vietnam’s Ethnic Minorities in Northern region, 2022 is expected to be held in 3 days, from November 18 to 20, 2022 at The tourism and culture village of Vietnamese ethnic minority groups, Dong Mo, Son Tay, Hanoi.
