Action Month for children – 2017 with the theme of “Protection and prevention of violence and harm of children” aims at further mobilizing entirely the society to join hands in protecting children, raising awareness and responsibility of bodies, organizations, families, individuals and children in protection and prevention of violence and harm to children so as to let them live in a safe environment and comprehensively develop.
For the past years, a series of policies and programmes on the child protection and care have been formulated, which has proved the State’s concerns over the exercise of children rights in general and dealing with harms to children in particular. However, the state of being violated and harmed is still remaining a pressing issue among the current public opinions. Violated and harmed children tend to be on the rise and to a severer degree, many acts of serious breach against children’ rights have become the hot social problem needed to be solved.
Action month of children will be held in June, coinciding with the timing that the 2016 law on children enters into effect. The 2016 law on children ensures the children law to be observed , especially the stipulations on child protection. Under which, the Ministry of Labour, Injured Soldiers and Social Affairs will collaborate with Ha Noi People’s Committee to launch the Action month for children 2017 and related promotional activities, such as: Propagandizing the law of children, the Decree on the detailed stipulations of some of the children law’s articles, the Dcree on the wholesome, friendly and safe educational environment, protection and prevention of school violence, the Programme of child protection fro the period of 2016-2020, at the same time organizing media campaigns and publicity among the community, schools, families, children of dangers and consequences caused by elements, acts of violence and harms to children, responsibility for providing information, notice and denunciation of violent and harmful acts against children, guiding how to apply the forms of discipline imposed on children, … Therefore, it is necessary to step up the propaganda work, taking precautionary steps against children violence and harm.
The activities within the launching ceremony should be implemented substantively, practically and pervasive among the community, with a focus targeted at children and not to be nominal. The launching ceremony of the Action month for children is scheduled to take place in Ha Noi at the end of May, 2017 with the participation of the leaders of the Party and the State, and ministries, branches.
